Boston has always been a city of firsts: America’s first public school (Boston Latin School), subway system (the “T”), public park (Boston Common), American University (Harvard), and even the first gay marriage license issued in America (in 2004). The petite colony, founded by English Puritans in the 1630, has evolved as an iconoclastic freedom-fighting juggernaut from the infamous events of the American Revolution to the controversial victory in Goodridge v. Department of Public Health, which legalized gay marriage in Massachusetts.

The revolutionary spirit and legacy live on through the city’s 250,000 students, a $4.8 billion dollar ephemeral force spread over 50 plus campuses on both sides of the Charles River. Year after year, this academic arena lures fresh, virginal sycophants to enter a world of scholarship and sagacity, well endowed with countless opportunities for rebellion against Puritan ways. With such blossoming creativity and burgeoning intellect in the air, it’s no surprise that Boston has pioneered yet another first in the United States – the conversion of a decrepit prison into a luxury hotel. Drop the bar of soap jokes aside, this is one Boston prison you may never want to leave! The gay man prison fantasy takes on a new meaning at The Liberty Hotel.

The Boston LBGT Pride parade and festival attracts approximately 400,000 participants each June. The Boston Globe Jazz and Blues Festival also takes place in June, and the Boston Early Music Festival takes place every odd-numbered year. During the summer, there are musical performances at the Bank of America Pavilion on the South Boston waterfront. Also during the summer is Harborfest, a week-long festival celebrating American independence. Independence Day itself (the Fourth of July) is celebrated on the Charles River Esplanade; sunbathers and a flotilla of boats move in during the day, followed by fireworks after dark accompanied by classical and patriotic music performed by the Boston Pops.

Florida's 5 Best Clothing Optional Gay Men's Resorts

Life in the tropics is all about beating the heat. And what better way cool off than to hang out poolside without clothing? Florida has dozens of clothing optional resorts, but which ones are the best? Here's the Mark's List take on the 5 best (in no particular order).

In Key West check out New Orleans House and Island House. New Orleans House is located on Duval Street, right in the middle of all of the action. You can count on a great time poolside or in Key West's biggest Gay nightclub, Bourbon Street Pub. Island House is located on a quieter side street and offers amazing rooms, many of them opening onto the pool and patio. There's also an amazing pool side cafe serving up some of the best food (and libations) on the Island. In Fort Lauderdale, we suggest you get your Gay clothing optional groove on at The Grand Resort and Spa, which offers an upscale atmosphere with amenities that include spa services, poolside cabana bars and plenty of tanning lotion to keep your booty from burning. In Central Florida you can head out into the woods and catch some all over rays at the Sawmill Camping Resort. Sawmill offers cabins and plenty of places to park RVs or pitch tents. There's also a large heated pool, a dance hall, restaurant, several themed bars and plenty of trails to go "hiking" on.
