About Gay & Lesbian South Beach #SoBe

Miami Beach has been one of America's pre-eminent beach resorts for almost a century. The beach, commonly referred to as #SoBe or #SouthBeach has been a Gay destination since the late 1980s when iconic nightclubs like Warsaw, Paragon and Salvation ruled the scene. While these bars are gone, a bevy of new and many would say better establishments have replaced them. For the best times on the beach check out Club BoiPalaceScore and Twist.

Miami and Miami Beach are home to several of the World's largest annual LGBT events. In fact, the city is host to more world renowned Gay and Lesbian parties than any other city on earth. In early March look for the week long Winter Party Festival with it's main event on Miami Beach. Next up is Aqua Girl, a lesbian circuit event in mid-May, followed by Sizzle, an event for black men and their admirers that takes place on Memorial Day Weekend. Sizzle Her has also gained in popularity in recent years, and now provides black women a weekend all their own.  Miami Beach Bruthaz, takes place in mid July every year. The year is wrapped up with the world famous White Party Week, a benefit for Care Resource.

The Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival includes several parties and typically showcases over 50 foreign and independent films. In the past few years, Miami Beach Gay Pride has grown into a major festival including a spectacular parade and expo on the scenic Ocean Drive along with an ever increasing number of circuit style nightclub events in the beach's major clubs.

In 1979 Miami Beach's Art Deco Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Art Deco District is the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world and comprises hundreds of hotels, apartments and other structures erected between 1923 and 1943. Mediterranean, Streamline Moderne and Art Deco are all represented in the District.

South Beach (also known as SoBe, or simply The Beach), comprises the area from 1st street to about 25th street and is the most popular area of Miami Beach. Topless sunbathing is tolerated on certain designated areas of the beach. The Gay beach can be found at Ocean Drive and 12th Street. Before the TV show Miami Vice helped make the area popular, SoBe was under urban blight, with vacant buildings and a high crime rate. Today, it is considered one of the richest commercial areas in Florida, home to designer boutiques and larger stores like an H & M Flagship store, Barney's CoOp and Macy's. Lincoln Road is a internationally known spot for great outdoor dining, bicycling, rollerblading and shopping.

The New World Symphony Orchestra, one of America's leading orchestral institutions is based in Miami Beach, Florida, under the direction of Michael Tilson Thomas. The orchestra has a new home that was designed by the internationally renowned architect, Frank Gehry.

The Beach also includes many other cultural venues including the Lincoln,  Fillmore, Jackie Gleason and Colony theaters. There is a botanical garden, the Holocaust Memorial and several museums including the Bass Museum, Wolfsonian, and the fabulous World Erotic Art Museum. Each year, the first weekend in December thousands of art lovers from all over the world flock to Miami Beach for the annual Art Basel.

Florida's Best Clothing Optional Gay Men's Resorts

Life in the tropics is all about beating the heat. And what better way cool off than to hang out poolside without clothing? Florida has dozens of clothing optional resorts, but which ones are the best? Here's the Mark's List take on the 5 best (in no particular order).

In Key West check out New Orleans House and Island House. New Orleans House is located on Duval Street, right in the middle of all of the action. You can count on a great time poolside or in Key West's biggest Gay nightclub, Bourbon Street Pub. Island House is located on a quieter side street and offers amazing rooms, many of them opening onto the pool and patio. There's also an amazing pool side cafe serving up some of the best food (and libations) on the Island. In Fort Lauderdale, we suggest you get your Gay clothing optional groove on at The Grand Resort and Spa, which offers an upscale atmosphere with amenities that include spa services, poolside cabana bars and plenty of tanning lotion to keep your booty from burning. In Central Florida you can head out into the woods and catch some all over rays at the Sawmill Camping Resort. Sawmill offers cabins and plenty of places to park RVs or pitch tents. There's also a large heated pool, a dance hall, restaurant, several themed bars and plenty of trails to go "hiking" on.

Dating App Releases Daddyhunt: The Serial Season 3

DADDYHUNT: THE SERIAL is back with Season 3 continuing the saga of two men who connect on the social network Daddyhunt.  Season 2 of the Serial took on the issue of PrEP and Season 3 builds on that with an emphasis on STD testing and partner notification (telling sexual partners they may need to get tested).

Premiering Oct. 24th, Season 3 of the series picks up where season 2 left off with the romance between the two men (BJ Gruber and Jim Newman) having grown closer and more intimate, but they also face some significant communication challenges. Additionally, Season 2’s Michael Snipe Jr. has a new love interest – but they too face some struggles from early on.

The series is a partnership between Daddyhunt and Building Healthy Online Communities (BHOC), a public-private partnership between dating sites and apps and HIV and STD prevention organizations.

Season 2, which won numerous awards including “Winner: Top Shorts Online Film Festival”, and the accompanying public service announcements have been viewed more than 5.7 million times since they were launched in April 2017.

For the third season, Daddyhunt again partnered with Building Healthy Online Communities (BHOC), to weave in storylines relating to STD testing, and the challenge of telling partners that they might have inadvertently given them an STD.  Through six accompanying PSAs, the actors delve into these issues more, and encourage gay men to seek out information on getting tested, PrEP, maintaining an undetectable viral load, and advice on writing a good online profile.

“We were thrilled to work with Daddyhunt again on Season 3 of the series,” said Dan Wohlfeiler, Director of BHOC.  “This partnership enabled us to go viral with a message about how our community confronts – and beats – viruses.” “We continue to be blown away by the reaction to the series,” said Casey Crawford, at Daddyhunt.  “It proves there remains a deep desire for stories about gay men that are true to real life.  And we were excited to work with BHOC to weave in topics that remain relevant to gay men today including the importance of routine testing, partner notification and fighting stigma online.”

Daddyhunt: The Serial - Season 3 debuts on Oct 24th and can be viewed on the Daddyhunt YouTube Channel.

Recruiting Hosts’ Robert Geller Talks LGBTQ Travel App

In a recent interview with GritDaily, Robert Geller gives the latest scoop on the LGBTQ-friendly travel app, Recruiting Hosts. According to the article, allegations of discrimination against LGBTQ populations on popular apps such as Airbnb and Overnight are ever-present. Risks rise in unfamiliar environments and in general, booking a room in a stranger’s home can be intimidating.

According to Gellar the app's goal is to "create a community of ally and LGBT hosts removing the whole coming out to a stranger, eliminating any anxiety, reinforcing that travel is about fun and meaningful connections."

"It’s pretty exciting actually to create a platform that is putting good out into the universe. We’re bringing people together in a meaningful way that’s rewarding. We also hope to bring people together in the communities represented on our platform for events and activities that resonate with the LGBT community such as AIDS Walks and LGBT film festivals," Gellar said.
