Pump’n Inc. training facility is a state of the art personal training gym located in Fort Lauderdale just off of NE 13th Street behind the Pride Factory. Equipped with free weights, machines and cardiovascular equipment, you will receive the benefits of working out in private, one-on-one with a professional trainer using a workout especially designed for your own fitness needs. Fitness testing and evaluation are also available to help each client to chart his or her progress.

Mark's List spoke with Tom Bonanti to find out how he got started and what to expect from his training.

JOML: How did you get into fitness training?
TOM BONANTI:  I have worked out since I was twelve and I love it. Seven years ago I was at the end of my rope in a career, which I could no longer tolerate – big time burn out! So I took some time out and became a Certified Fitness Trainer and Licensed Massage Therapist. Upon moving to South Florida I began a new career in a field I adore.

JOML: Was fitness always important to you, or did something happen in your life to make you take fitness seriously or look into becoming fit?
I was a fat, shy, little gay boy who discovered weights in my cousin’s basement. I learned how they could transform my looks and my self-esteem. Now I see how weight training can keep me healthy and feeling young, and, oh yeah, big and muscular as well!

JOML: What makes you different than other trainers?
I know several local gay trainers and they are the best guys around – caring, conscientious, professional and gorgeous. I’d like to think I fit in with them. I think that my humor and sassy sarcasm help my clients to get through their routines just a little easier.

JOML: How do you personalize your fitness routines for clients?
Each client is unique, each has his/her own needs, goals, conditions, etc., therefore, each person’s routine is different, more specific to their needs and goals.

JOML: Tell me about your gym – Pump’n Inc.
Pump’n Inc. is a 1,600 sq. ft. one-on-one gym fully equipped with free weights, machines and four cardio stations, and a boxing and wrestling ring. I offer free initial consultations and if the client works with me I usually start off with a fitness evaluation and then launch into a personalized routine based upon his/her needs. I also have a massage studio at this location.

JOML: How did you get into professional massage?
I got into massage because I figured that it would be a great marketable skill to combine with training. I also believe that it offers my clients another aspect of healthy living and physical fitness.

JOML: What is your most requested massage technique?
Hmm… in Fort Lauderdale, most of us professional massage therapists smile at that question. Seriously, as a professional and licensed massage therapist I usually do a combination of Swedish, Deep Tissue and Sports Massage for most of my sessions.

At Pump'n Inc. you will receive the one-on-one professional guidance you need to achieve your fitness goals. Whether you want to build muscle, lose fat, increase your cardiovascular strength, or just plain look better naked, Fitness Trainer Tom Bonanti can help you get in the best shape of your life! Training is hard work and you deserve to see and feel results. But without proper knowledge and direction you can often feel like you are spinning your wheels.

Pump’n Inc. Gym Amenities include:

  • Private Showers
  • Locker Room facilities
  • Workout Towels
  • Bottled Water
  • High Energy Music (you may also bring your favorite music – after all, the time and facility are your private workout space)

MTV Short Film Takes a Look at Masculinity in America

A new short film from MTV takes a gritty look at homophobia and how gender norms make it hard for us to be who we really. "American Male" explores the behaviors society expects from men and and women from the perspective of a young man who grew up trying to live up to those expectations (Photo: YouTube).

The short film follows the typical "masculine" guy during his daily activities. He can be seen working out intensely, high-fiving his bros, crushing cans of beers and agressively paddling another guy at a party while calling him a "faggot." He lists the many behavioral differences that are expected from men and women, including how they are supposed to sit, how to hold books, what they should listen to, and which alcoholic beverages to drink.

“I would like for viewers to gain a better understanding of what life feels like in the closet,” filmmaker Michael Rohrbaugh told The Huffington Post. “I also hope they’ll reflect upon their own lives and think about falsehoods that might be holding them back.”

“American Male” is the winner of MTV’s Look Different Creator Competition, which invited up-and-coming filmmakers to create work surrounding the topic of privilege.

Hillary Clinton Reaches Out to Florida's LGBT Voters

Hillary Rodham Clinton has been in the public eye for over 40 years, and for nearly 25 of those years, she has carved out her own legacy, refusing to be a mere mention alongside her husband, former President Bill Clinton. She served for eight years as United States Senator from New York, and then went on to represent our country abroad as our third female Secretary of State. In the upcoming presidential election, she will face Republican nominee Donald Trump. With just weeks before Election Day, polls show Clinton and Trump in a close battle, with each candidate boasting a loyal voting base. Like in past elections, the turnout from Florida could very well decide the end result this time around (Photo: Adam Schultz).

Recently Secretary Clinton sat down with Mike Halterman to talk about her proposed policies should she be elected, the legacy of the LGBT rights movement, and her vision for our country's future. Read the full interview: Hillary Clinton Reaches Out to Florida's LGBT Voters

The 2016 SMART Ride Benefiting Broward House

On November 18 and 19 about 500 people will ride their bicycles along a 165 mile scenic trek from Miami to Key West in the SMART Ride 2016. They will be supported by 250 volunteer crew members.   In 2015 nearly $1,000,000 was raised and one hundred percent of this money went AIDS Service Organizations in Florida to serve individuals who are HIV positive or to prevent HIV. This was possible because 100% of the ride production was supported by donations and sponsors. Broward House is an honored participant and recipient for the SMART Ride. You could be a part of this fulfilling experience by donating, riding crewing or sponsoring.
