Manolo (Washington) in Miami Beach, FL

The Mark's List Gang
Alisha Riddle
Back in the early 2000s a family came to Miami from South America to open up a restaurant in the Argentinean village near 73rd Street and Collins and this is how we got Manolo. Now there's a second location in the thick of South Beach. Owner Juan Miguel Santurian, who currently owns two other Manolo restaurants in Argentina, picked the location and has now become a staple within the community. Manolo is known for being a mixture of a cafeteria, café, restaurant, and food court all wrapped in one where you can go relax, shop, and have some amazing eggs, steak, burgers, pizza and churros.
Manolo, named for Juan’s grandfather, has the experience of three generations of restaurateurs behind it.  They have plenty of items to choose from whether it is the Manolo Bacon Burger, Canelones/sandwich de miga, or empanadas, you can find what you like.  Feel like pasta or meats?  With the Chicken Picatta you had better bring your appetite because there are three sets of breasts!  They have plenty of pasta and seafood dishes for anyone to choose from as well as a Pizza con Panceta that will be ordered next time.  Definitely recommendable would be the Rabas or batter dipped calamari rings with a delicious mayo dipping sauce but their favorites would be the batter dipped and fried chicken or steak sandwiches.  Are you a really hungry?  Why not try their Uruguayan two foot long pizza?  The pizza comes with tomatoes, bacon, olives, and hard-boiled eggs.
Fried dough is still fried dough and it does not matter who claimed to invent it, but at Manolo their churros are items of local legends.  Be it the perfect breakfast treat with sprinkled with sugar and coffee or a mid-afternoon snack with a fruit juice their churros are either filled with custard cream, chocolate, or dulce de leche as well as the original plain.  With a full wall of binned bakery items and countless shelves of delicacies including cakes, pies, and cookies, there is something for everyone.

Whether it is burgers, pastries, or delicious desserts, Manolo is the place you will want to go back to over again.  There are so many items to order from you could go weeks without getting the same thing twice.  With the feel of a diner, look of a bakery, and the taste of a restaurant you need to drop in, sit back, and relax.  While you are there look at the countless original black and white photographs of relatives whose spirit remains in the kitchen.

We highly recommend Manolo.
