Cheeseburger Baby, Great Burgers on Miami Beach

Cheeseburger Baby is said to be the oldest burger bar on Miami Beach. Maybe it is, they opened in 2001. It's not a fancy place, unless you think white tile, mirrors and graffiti style murals are fancy. The menu is pretty basic. Cheeseburgers with American, Cheddar, pepperjack or Swiss cheese. Obviously you can leave the cheese off, which would make it a Hamburger Baby. Jay-Z once proclaimed  that Cheeseburger Baby is his burger bar of choice in Miami. Oh. And Kanye West, T.I. and a bevy of well known athletes, like David Beckham, and stars routinely turn up in this now legendary Washington Avenue burger joint. Hollywood's Uber Glam Hotel, the Diplomat

The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa, Hollywood, Florida, with its sleek glass exterior and stunning contemporary lobby, is actually part of an exciting historical continuum that began a half century ago with The Diplomat, a luxury hotel opened on this site in 1959. The hotel was technically opened in 1958 as the 150-room Envoy by supermarket tycoon Samuel Friedland. But it found its groove in the decades to come, after Friedland expanded it to 370 rooms, entrusted it to the care of his daughter and son-in-law, the Cowans, and renamed it The Diplomat.  A ritzy and opulent retreat, The Diplomat quickly made Hollywood, Florida a popular destination for the rich, famous and anyone seeking a little glamour with their surf and sun. During the Cowans’ tenure, the hotel saw performers from Bing Crosby and Maurice Chevalier to Woody Allen, Bob Neuhart, Liza Minnelli and Kenny Rogers in the renowned Café Crystal or the more intimate Tack Room. The Plant Boat Owners Need Your Help

On September 8th around 7pm, local business owner Matthew Lang of #ThePlantBoat lost everything he had when a large SUV lost control and plowed into his storefront. The building's foundation was destroyed, making the building unusable and leaving Lang's business displaced. Fortunately, Matthew and his husband Rodrigo were on a delivery when the accident happened. Unfortunately, he's now in huge debt because he sunk everything he had into his business.

Matthew Lang is a South Florida native and long-time small business owner that's been pursuing his passion for plants since he was a kid. The Plant Boat was recently moved from a boat near Galleria Mall (hence the name The Plant Boat) to US1 near the Davie Blvd instersection to get more exposure. He couldn't have planned for a catastrophe like this.

Matthew needs your help. A "GoFundMe" page has been created to help him get back on his feet. The goal is to raise $30,000, and every little bit helps. Whatever you can donate will be greatly appreciated.

When a fellow neighbor needs our help, it's important to get their back. Let's help The Plant Boat get back afloat. Thanks in advance for your contributions and spreading the word.

Donations are being accepted here:

Johnny's Celebrates 34 Years

Not many people still remember the original Johnny’s Village Inn, a small stripper, beer and wine club that used to be located at Riverwalk. But with the redevelopment of the area, Johnny’s moved to its current location on Broward Boulevard and is now equipped with a full-liquor license. Since those early days, Johnny’s has become a destination in its own right and is Fort Lauderdale’s, if not all of South Florida’s, longest continuously operating Gay bar. The hot guys on stage keep the audience so hot that the ice quickly melts in their drinks. But that’s OK, because their friendly attentive staff are quick with a refill.

To celebrate, drinks are free from 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Shots are 2-4-1, you call it from 7 days a week, from open to close. You want more? There's free pool all night on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and... $3 drinks until 9 pm 7 days a week.

Stacking Amino Acids For Bigger Muscles

Amino acids are the building blocks of protein and muscle tissue. There are 21 amino acids, some of which are synthesized by your body in sufficient amounts and are thus not required in the diet. The majority of amino acids cannot be manufactured in sufficient amounts to meet the demands of the human body and must be obtained by a diet rich in protein sources like chicken, fish, and dairy products. But besides building healthy tissue, most amino acids also fuel specific functions in your muscles that can turn you into a lean, mean, muscle machine! You can find out which amino acids are better than others on Mark's List here: Stacking Amino Acids to Build Bigger Muscles

Florida's 5 Best Clothing Optional Gay Men's Resorts

Life in the tropics is all about beating the heat. And what better way cool off than to hang out poolside without clothing? Florida has dozens of clothing optional resorts, but which ones are the best? Here's the Mark's List take on the 5 best (in no particular order).

In Key West check out New Orleans House and Island House. New Orleans House is located on Duval Street, right in the middle of all of the action. You can count on a great time poolside or in Key West's biggest Gay nightclub, Bourbon Street Pub.  Island House is located on a quieter side street and offers amazing rooms, many of them opening onto the pool and patio. There's also an amazing pool side cafe serving up some of the best food (and libations) on the Island. In Fort Lauderdale, we suggest you get your Gay clothing optional groove on at The Grand Resort or The Royal Palms. Both of these hotels are staffed by some of the sexiest men in South Florida and they both offer an upscale atmosphere with amenities that include spa services, poolside cabana bars and plenty of tanning lotion to keep your bootie from burning. In Central Florida you can head out into the woods and catch some all over rays at the Sawmill Camping Resort. Sawmill offers cabins and plenty of places to park RVs or pitch tents. There's also a large heated pool, a dance hall, restaurant, several themed bars and plenty of trails to go "hiking" on.

A & B Lobster House Restaurant, a Key West Tradition

The steaks are high quality and the locally caught seafood and lobsters from Maine and Florida are prepared with a delicate fusion of classic and contemporary styles by chefs with years of culinary experience. This is a lobster house, but you'll find a wide variety of entrees from the sea including grouper, snapper, tuna and scallops. The menu pays attention to both land and sea lovers and everyone will find something that delights them. After dinner, enjoy fine cognacs, dessert wines, cigars and unique martinis in Berlin's — a comfortable locals’ bar with a true Southern feel.

You can find the location and check out more things to do in the neighborhood on Mark's List here: A & B Lobster House Restaurant, a Key West Tradition

5 Best Hotels Close To (Or In) Ybor City

Looking for a place to lay your head down after partying in one of Florida's largest entertainment districts, Ybor City, aka "GaYBOR"? With G.Bar almost directly across the street, the closest hotel to the LGBT nightlife action is the Hampton Inn Ybor City. A short walk away, but still in Ybor City, you'll find the Hilton Garden Inn with it's outdoor pool that always seems to have few cute guys tanning their washboard abs and cum gutters. Just a 10 or 15 minute ride away on Tampa's TECO Trolley Line you'll find three more great hotels. These hotels are perfect when you want to be close to the action, but far enough removed to follow it up with a good nights sleep. The new riverfront Aloft Hotel has caught the eye of Tampa's hip and glam see and be seen social set. It truly is the Bay area's coolest urban hotel. The Sheraton Riverwalk Hotel is next door to Aloft and offers cheaper rooms and the ability to pop in next door and hang out with the hipsters. Closer to the Port of Tampa and the Times Forum (an arena and concert venue), you'll find the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina.

Obon & Lantern Festival at Morikami Museum

Enjoy Japanese folk-dancing, drumming, the Ennichi street fair and the iconic lantern floating ceremony at a fall festival in the spirit of Obon at the Morikami Museum and Gardens. An Obon is Japan’s summer homage to ancestors who return for a brief visit to the living. The festival has become as big as the Morikami can accommodate without damaging the property and so access is limited. Tickets will sell out in advance and none will be available at the door.

Morikami Lantern Fetsival Ticket LinkThere are two ways to participate in the ceremonies that will take place at the Obon and Lantern Festival. First, lantern sleeves for the Toro Nagashi (lantern floating) ceremony go on sale at the start of the Lantern Festival. Each of the almost 1,000 lanterns is hand-assembled by Morikami volunteers and staff the day of the festival. Buy your lanterns the minute you arrive as they will sell out! Second, tanzaku slips adorn the shoryobune, meaning “boat for the spirits of the deceased.” The shoryobune is hand-crafted and decorated out of straw, wood and paper. During the lantern floating ceremony, the shoryobune is filled with tanzaku slips collected from visitors. Like the floating lanterns, the shoryobune flames symbolically guide the visiting spirits back to the otherworld.

Since its opening in 1977, The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens has been a center for Japanese arts and culture in South Florida. The Morikami Museum Collection houses Japanese art objects and artifacts, including a 500-piece collection of tea ceremony items, more than 200 textile pieces and recent fine art acquisitions. The 200 acres that surround The Morikami’s two museum buildings include expansive Japanese gardens with strolling paths, resting areas, tropical bonsai collection, small lakes teeming with koi and other wildlife, nature trails, pine forests and park and picnic areas. The Morikami's gardens reflect major periods of Japanese garden design, from the eighth to the 20th century, and serve as an outdoor extension of the museum. The Morikami Gardens consist of shinden islands, paradise garden and contemporary garden. According to the garden designer, Hoichi Kurisu, each garden is intended to express the character and ideas of a unique counterpart in Japan without attempting to duplicate those gardens, and seamlessly flow together as one garden.

There is nothing else like the Morikami in Florida. The 200 acres have grown into an oasis in the middle of a dense urban area that transports visitors to a completely different place. Florida's palm trees and familiar flora are replaced with pine forests and traditional Japanese plants. The panorama's and sunsets appear to be from a far away world.

You can find out more about the museum and gardens on Mark's List here: Obon & Lantern Festival at Morikami Museum

Kicking off the Arsht Center’s critically-acclaimed Theater Up Close Season, Peter and the Starcatcher

Rick Elice’s Peter and the Starcatcher is the innovative and imaginative play with music based on the best-selling novel by Miami native Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. In this high-flying adventure, twelve actors play more than 100 unforgettable characters – plus most of the scenery and furniture – in an exhilarating journey to answer the century-old question: How did Peter Pan become “The Boy Who Never Grew Up”? This epic origin story proves that one’s own imagination is the most captivating place in the world!

White Party 2014, The Diamond Jubilee

White Party began in 1985 as a pioneering fundraiser to raise money for research and awareness on a new disease called AIDS. Thirty years later, the Party remains true to its roots as a primary income source for Care Resource, a nonprofit, multicultural, community-based AIDS service organization, which provides education, prevention, research, care and treatment, and support services. Surrounded by an entire weekend of events, Saturday’s actual “White Party” unites thousands of gay men and women dressed in white, creating a fairy tale party setting. Sunday’s Muscle Beach Party recruits over 5,000 muscle boys for an afternoon of barefoot dancing, dripping sweat, and inebriation. Tickets are cheaper in advance and tax deductible! You can get info on all of the parties, check out thousands of photos from previous years and get the ticket link here: White Party 2014, The Diamond Jubilee
