Are you in the
mood for a fresh made enchilada or nachos and in the Oakland Park
area? Well, at The Whole Enchilada at 4115 North Federal
Highway you will be able to order any enchilada or burrito the way
you want whether it be in a corn, flour, or whole wheat tortilla.
The Whole Enchilada was conceived and is operated by two
local brothers Drew and David Cardaci. Take simple
and savory TexMex items and with some charisma and wit they will
bring you food you will want to come back for.
We like the
Benito Burrito made with Mexican Rice, black beans (or Pinto),
Cheddar and Jack cheese, salsa, avocado, and lettuce I get it with
the charbroiled steak, but you can get it with chicken, ground beef,
or seared Tofu. They have cool names for their burritos like “One
of Those” which has a choice of meat with just cheddar cheese,
salsa, and guacamole as well as “The Tree Hugger” that has a
whole wheat tortilla filled with Mexican Rice, beans, cheese,
lettuce, salsa avocado and seared Tofu. Next time I want to try the
Black Tiger, (don’t worry not on Endangered Species List) but
has Black Tiger Shrimp, Mexican Rice, jack and cheddar cheese,
caramelized onions, cabbage, avocado, and roasted pepper sauce.
Yum!
As well as
burritos and enchiladas they also have a wide variety of tacos, with
Taco Baskets that include two tacos, crispy tortilla chips,
and choice of fresh salsa. You have the option of corn, flour, or
whole wheat soft tacos or crispy ones. They have the Hasselhoff
which has soft corn tortillas filled with charbroiled chicken,
steak, or ground beef, cheese, lettuce, and tomato. Why not try a
Shrimp Taco with Black Tiger Shrimp?
This is
definitely one of those neighborhood places that you feel you are
supporting—not some multi-billion dollar corporation. When you go
in, there’s a 90% chance you’ll be waited on by one of the owners.
I like that and there’s the definite possibility you will too.
