Wow! If I thought I could get away
with a one word review that would insure that you get how good
Smoke Barbeque and Grill restaurant in Hyde Park (Tampa)
is, I would have ended this after wow.
 Where
do I begin? We ate so much food and tried so many things, that
it's almost impossible to believe they got every single thing
right. We had a Pulled Pork Shoulder Sandwich, Huli
Huli Chicken, Grilled Sausages, Shrimp and Smoked
Pork Ribs. We also had Macaroni and Cheese, Spanish
Garlic Potatoes, Cole Slaw and French Fries.
We take trying a new place very seriously!
In addition to the menu items we
mentioned, you'll also find several salads. Smoke Barbeque and Grill
is not just a carnivore's dream come true!
What did we love? Everything. But
let me tell you about the four things that just amazed us. The
Macaroni and Cheese was baked and served in a cast iron skillet.
The top was nice and crispy, the cheese sauce was homemade,
fresh and thick and the whole thing was gone within seconds.
Yup, it was that good. The Spanish Garlic Potatoes were amazing.
They reminded me of Au Gratin Potatoes, but the potatoes were
sliced thick with the skin left on and the garlic -cheese sauce
was amazing. There were also sliced scallions in the mix. The
Huli Huli chicken was over the top fabulous. One half chicken
served with the skin on and a very thin slice of pineapple. The
chicken was smoked to perfection and the pineapple sweetened up
the chicken very nicely. Finally, Smoke Barbeque and Grill
really excels at ribs. The smoke flavor is just as prominent as
in the chicken, but the ribs are smothered in a BBQ sauce that
just blew us away. The chicken and ribs fell off the bone.
The scene is really cool. The
restaurant is an old brick building converted into a restaurant
with a short counter where you can sit and watch the cooking
happen. There's an outdoor canopy that is now patio seating and
another area contains more indoor seating. Smoke Barbeque and
Grill also has a pick up window, so you Hyde Parkians (Is that
what you're called?) can call ahead and take advantage of a
convenient and tasty take home dinner.
