There's nothing
complicated or fancy about Jack's Old Fashion Hamburger House
restaurants in Fort Lauderdale and Pompano Beach Florida.
The menu is as simple as it gets, there's a half pound burger,
third pound burger and a quarter pound burger all
served with or without cheese. The burgers are 100% lean beef with
no additives or fillers and the beef is cut and ground fresh twice
daily on the premises. Who grinds their own meat anymore? They claim
that the beef is so lean that your finished patty costs you
approximately 25% less than all of the hamburger chains.
If you're not in
the mood for burgers, there's a grilled roast beef with peppers
and onions, a grilled smoked ham with double cheese, a
sliced turkey breast sandwich and a hot dog on the menu.
You'll also find fries, chili, shakes and a
root beer float. That's about it.
The scene is fairly
utilitarian with fake plants, old wood paneling and photos of Fort
Lauderdale that are older than the restaurant. There's no drive-thru
and no free refills. And all of this is probably the reason for the
overwhelming success of these two restaurants. Keep it simple, focus
on the quality of the food and service and sell truckloads of
burgers.
The burgers are as
tasty as you would expect and the fries are good as well. Overall,
the quality is exceptional. You top your own burgers, so they end
just the way you like them. The service is a little slower than
chain fast food and the prices are a little higher, but you're
getting what you pay for; freshly prepared food that wasn't trucked
in frozen.
Don't plan on
finding a parking spot at lunch. Last time we tried stopping in at
noon we ended up parking on the lawn of the restaurant next door.
All in all, Jack's Old Fashion Hamburger House is a great place for
a burger and fries, and a true value. |
