Anyone that says World
Class food can't be found on Fort Lauderdale Beach,
hasn't dined at Casablanca Cafe. This is quite frankly
one of the best restaurants in south Florida, period.
While the food is, as we
mentioned, World Class, Casablanca Cafe also comes with
ambiance that is unparalleled. It's hard to describe the
odd piece of land that the restaurant is located on.
Let's just say that it creates an opportunity for
breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean while dining
outdoors on numerous patios and balconies. Most days the
restaurant is completely open on three sides.
The building is a
renovated home that is as you can imagine, decked out
like it's straight out of the movie, Casablanca. The
Cafe is perfect for a romantic dinner. With it's
location directly across from Fort Lauderdale's Gay
Beach, it is a favorite spot for Sunday Brunch, lunches
and dinners.
Patrons attire ranges
from casual to chic, but the menu does not. This is top
notch food. On our recent visit we dined on Flank Steak,
Walnut and Cherve Crusted Chicken Breast, and a Hummus
and Pita and hummus plate. The Flank Steak was so tender
and juicy that you could cut it with your fork. The
chicken was delightful.
We also ordered French
Onion soup, which was perfectly prepared and a
delicious, light and flaky crab cake with aioli.
On previous visits
we've mostly eaten a little more casual enjoying the
Angus Burger, Gazpacho, Chicken with Spinach Pesto and
BBQ Pork sandwiches.
Finally, we decided on
this visit it was time to go all the way through dessert
and so we ordered, crème brule, cheesecake and key lime
pie.
For about an hour after
the Mark's List Gang left, the chatter was all
about how good everything was and making plans for our
next reason to go OUTDining.
