Weekly Wrap-Up |
Thursday night was the much anticipated VIP
opening of Mary’s Resort (1115 Tequesta, SW 4th
Street), Fort Lauderdale’s newest Gay

first hand peak at the beautifully designed and furnished
cottages Mary’s has for rent. This is truly an Oasis away from
home. The event was catered by
Dakota Catering who
served the most delicious hors d’oeurves. Congrats to owner
Keith and the rest of the staff for a fabulous event. For

Friday night was very entertaining at
Boardwalk! A few of the boys from Helix Studios new
release, "Hot Tubbin' Twinks" were on hand to
entertain and pass out free copies of the latest DVD. As always,
emcee Justice Royale was on hand to perform and keep the
over 20 dancers busy on two stages and on top of the bar. Thanks
to Victor & Jim, owners of Boardwalk and Bailey
from Helix Studios for a terrific night out!
Peter Burke's Tea Cruise aboard the Musette Yacht continues to grow
in popularity. With entertainers like Joe Posa playing a
stunningly realistic Joan Rivers, Fabio doing his very
daring strip show and DJ Marcio cranking out the dance
tunes, the energy never stops. If you're just looking to relax,
head out to the bow of the boat and bask in the sun. Also on
hand are many local businesses literally giving away prizes from
Cosmetic surgery to table fountains and jewelry. Peter's next
Tea Cruise sets sail on May 7th and continues the first
Sunday of every month after that.

April 9, The Impressionists, by Michael McKeever –

technological innovations of the 21st century – while making the
total stage experience more enticing – to theatergoers in
Boca Raton.

Denzel Washington Builds a Fisher House |
Denzel
Washington
and his family visited the troops at
Brook
Army Medical Center,
in
San Antonio,
Texas
(BAMC) the other day. This is where soldiers who have been evacuated from
Germany come to be hospitalized in the United States, especially burn victims.
There are some buildings there called Fisher Houses. The Fisher House is
a Hotel where soldiers' families can stay, for little or no charge, while their
soldier is staying in the Hospital. BAMC has quite a few of these houses
on base, but as you can imagine, they are almost filled most of the time. While
Denzel Washington was visiting BAMC, they gave him a tour of one of the Fisher
Houses. He asked how much one of them would cost to build. He took out his
checkbook and wrote a check for the full amount right
there on the spot. The soldiers overseas were amazed to hear this story and want
to get the word out to the American public, because it warmed their hearts to
hear it. |

Untouched
Adult Entertainment |
DiamondBack
Pictures was
established in October 2004 by Cameron Michaels who realized there was a
need in the adult video industry for movies with guys in their 30’s and 40’s.
“Most of the movies out there are either starring Twinks or Bears, and I decided
that I wanted to tap the market that is directly in the middle and bring all the
models together in an area of adult entertainment, and I am calling this
"Untouched Adult Entertainment” states Cameron. When Cameron moved to Florida he
started out opening an advertising and marketing firm, and happened upon a
client who asked him to shoot adult content. It was from there that the seed was
planted to start DiamondBack. DiamondBack Pictures now has 25 guys on their site
and that number is growing rapidly. They exploded into the adult Entertainment
Industry and have recently partnered up with Men4Men Live based out of
Tampa Florida.

Aids Walk Miami and Rupert Everett |
History will be made on AIDS Walk Weekend as
Care Resource, the
New York Times, and
Audi, invite the public to
spend an evening with star of stage and screen
Rupert Everett, Thursday,
April 20, at 7 PM inside the Colony Theater on Lincoln Road, Miami
Beach, when he, in front of a live audience, in an "Inside the
Actors Studio" style, will be interviewed by a moderator from the
New York Times
"TimesTalks" program about his
life, stardom, friends, and why he agreed to be the Grand Marshall for this
years 18th Annual AIDS Walk for Care Resource. After the initial
interview, Rupert will be taking
questions
live while onstage from audience members. This event is being covered nationally
by television and print media. British-born
Rupert Everett grew up in
privileged circumstances, but the wry, sometimes arrogant intellectual was a
rebel from the very beginning. At the age of 7, he was placed into the care of
Benedictine monks at Ampleforth College where he trained classically on
the piano. He was expelled from the Central School of Speech and Drama in London
for clashing with his teachers, and instead apprenticed himself at the
avant-garde Glasgow Citizen's Theater in Scotland, performing in such
productions as `Don Juan' and `Heartbreak House'. In 1984, Everett
successfully filmed a lead role in, Another Country, which he had
performed earlier on stage, and shot to international attention, becoming one of
England's hottest new star. But, again, the wickedly sharp and suave rebel
doused his own fire by clashing with the press and even with his own fans. In
1989, Everett openly declared his own homosexuality -- an announcement that
could have mortally wounded his film career. Instead, over time, it seems to
have had the opposite effect. His career revitalized as Julia Roberts'
gay confidante in My Best Friend's Wedding (1997), and he has continued
to impress notably in the classics area with Shakespeare in Love (1998)
(as Christopher Marlowe), An Ideal Husband (1999) and A Midsummer
Night's Dream, as Oberon (1999). Lately he has enhanced both films, with
his royal portrayals in To Kill a King (2003) and Stage Beauty,
Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking (2004). His predilection
for smug and smarmy villains of late, such as the cartoonish Dr. Claw in
Inspector Gadget (1999) has extended into voice animation with his "unprincely"
Prince Charming character in Shrek 2 (2004) and Shrek 3
(Being released soon). In making his landmark decision to "come out," Rupert
becomes a living testament disproving the theory that a truly talented and
successful romantic leading man cannot survive the career-killing stigma of
being openly gay. His relationships with other celebrities, such as his
friendship with Madonna,
has kept him in the press and boosted his leading man status. Directly following
the event at the Colony Theater there will be the
VIP Reception, at a different
location
where for a small extra charge participants will have a chance
to meet Rupert in a more relaxed party atmosphere.
