Novimari
has opened a boutique in Fort Lauderdale at Victoria Park Shoppes |
|
 |
|
Novimari,
exclusive retailer of hand-crafted home and personal accessories made only in
Tuscany, has opened a boutique in Fort Lauderdale at Victoria Park Shoppes on
U.S. 1. Novimari is the only international brand fostering and promoting the
Made in Tuscany design, according to company CEO Stefano Matini. “Novimari
is for the discriminating buyer seeking traditional craftsmanship and quality,
with a new and unique modern approach,” said Matini. “All offerings are
individually crafted with artistry, love and experience.” Matini and
Novimari co-founder Ilaria Niccolini joined their artistic and business
backgrounds in 2001 with the intent of representing Tuscan design. Both Florence
natives, Matini and Niccolini come from families of silk traders and crystal
glass producers. The two entrepreneurs have direct relationships with a variety
of Tuscan craftspeople and artisans which allows greater quality control and
lower retail prices than competitors selling Made in Italy products. Shoppers
may choose from a wide variety of home and personal accessories for registry,
housewarming,
anniversary
and birthday ideas including bed and bath, drink ware, handbags, home
accessories, interiors, jewelry, kids, kitchen, leather, natural products,
serving pieces, silverware and tableware. Novimari also operates as a consultant
for architects and interior designers and creator of its own exclusive designs,
which are manufactured by the same producers the company represents. All
producers, located in the Tuscan region of Italy, are well-established
businesses in the European market known for the outstanding quality
of
their craftsmanship. Most Novimari products are fully customizable to
accommodate the many creative challenges faced by homeowners, designers or
architects. “In addition to providing warmth and enjoyment, our products will
last a lifetime,” said Niccolini. “And because we provide goods only of
the highest artistry and quality, Novimari products are a wise investment.”
Novimari is located at 656 N. Federal Hwy., Fort Lauderdale 33305 in Victoria
Park Shoppes. The boutique is open 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10
a.m.-9 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The store is closed on Sunday. To celebrate all
things Tuscan, 6-8 p.m. every Saturday Novimari will feature “Novimari At 6,”
a tasting of fine Tuscan wines and appetizers prepared by Chef James K. Newman.
Guests will be able to enjoy a taste of Tuscany
and learn how to prepare delicious Tuscan recipes. For information call

Cosmetic
and skincare company Fierté will help fight child abuse throughout the
month of July by raising money for well-respected charity Kids In Distress.
During July 2% of net sales of all Fierté products and services from the
company’s flagship studio, located at 658 N. Federal Highway in Victoria Park
Shoppes in Fort Lauderdale,
Fla., and on their website at
www.fiertecosmetics.com
will go to Kids In Distress. “Child abuse represents the human condition at
its ugliest,” said Fierté C.E.O. and Master Artisan Gregory Yap Sam,
a 20-year veteran of the beauty industry. “We believe children should be raised
surrounded by beauty and love which is why we have partnered with Kids In
Distress.” The studio, the first of 20 planned nationwide, offers the company’s
own brand of cosmetic and skincare products,
personal
client services and education and bridal services and customized wedding
packages. The store also serves as a training facility for make-up artists and
estheticians and a coaching facility for pageant contestants. Additionally the
Fort-Lauderdale based company provides customized out-of-studio services such as
employee incentive packages for corporations, membership recruitment programs
for charities, “celebrity treatment” packages for the event and conference
planners, and storyboards, design concepts and applications for the fashion,
photography, and film industries. Fierté’s concept is deceivingly simple yet
non-existent in the cosmetic industry according to Brad Koogler, director
of marketing and public relations. “We focus on educating the client and
providing personalized attention in an intimate, up-scale boutique setting,”
he said. “At Fierté we believe in the transformative power of beauty. We have
the opportunity to help people enhance their lives on a very personal, intimate
level. Kids In Distress does the same thing but in a very different context.”
Kids In Distress is a nationally accredited agency dedicated to the prevention
of child abuse, the preservation of the family and the care and treatment of
abused and neglected children. The organization provides essential services to
more than 6,000 children each year including emergency shelter, group homes,
foster care and adoption support, therapeutic preschool, 24-hour crisis
intervention, behavioral health services, parent education, domestic violence
services, substance abuse treatment, in-home prevention services, access to
medical care and rehabilitative therapies, after school and summer camp
experiences and supervised visitation. To help Kids In Distress fight child
abuse call Fierté’s flagship studio at 954-525-2150 to make an appointment or

Les Beans Coffee: Quirky, Clever and
Very Hot! |
 |
|
A new, gay owned on-line coffee store, Les Beans Coffee,
launched June 1st and has already gotten attention for its clever
name and creative presentation. The owners, Desiree Ramos-Aponti and
Patti Lucia (partners), created Les Beans Coffee out of their passion for
coffee, humanity and women power. “Our coffees are all Fair Trade, Organic
and Shade grown,” states Aponti, “We think any issue of fairness,
including Fair Trade, is particularly important to the gay community, women, and
growing numbers of Americans who are getting educated about sustainability and
Fair Trade.” The list of Fair Trade cooperatives which supply Aponti and
Lucia’s coffee includes an all women Peruvian coffee collective, Café
Femenino. The 464 women coffee farmers distribute a portion of their profit
on each pound of “green” (pre-roasted coffee) to services for women and children
in their rural villages. “Café Femenino lets us support the empowerment of
women in another country on their terms,” states Aponti. “We’re very
proud to carry this coffee.” The hot pink labels on Les Beans Coffee bags
are not like ordinary coffee labels. Though each label contains the appropriate
certifications, a customer will find a quirky and surprising description. “We’ve
named all of our coffees after women and created a personality for each,”
explains Lucia, who holds a Masters degree in Creative Writing from City College
of New York, “Each character is smart and sexy and has her story on the
label.” Aponti, who holds a Masters degree in Chemistry from UM, is the
company’s expert on coffee production and the roasting process. “The

quality of our coffee is superb because it is slow
roasted in small batches, maintaining the integrity of the bean and avoiding
dehydration. If you have bought coffee that was in pieces on the bottom of the
bag, chances are the coffee was over roasted or very old,” she explains. “You
won’t find that with our beans.” The two plan to build their company through
a presence at festivals and fairs throughout Florida and other states as well as
on line. The first Les Beans Coffee House may also be on the horizon. “We’ll
open where there’s a solid base of support”, says Lucia. “Right now,
we’re going to introduce our company and “the girls” and build a base of loyal
customers.” Les Beans Coffee first appeared at the Palm Beach Pride festival
in
Lake Worth
on March 25th. “The response was overwhelming”, says Aponti, “People
went crazy for our name and the stories. They also loved the way we described
our coffees using female pronouns.” Aponti and Lucia were invited by
members of the Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce to make Les Beans Coffee a regular
vendor at “Evenings on the Avenue”, a weekly Friday evening affair on
Lake Avenue. “Lake Worth
has been very welcoming to us. Our support in this community includes a broad
range of residents, both gay and straight, who love our coffee and the quirky,
anti-corporate feel of our company.” says Lucia. “This may be the home of our first Les
Beans Coffee House.” Les Beans Coffee currently has sixteen selections, but
the number is expected to grow. The on line store offers their organic, Fair
Trade coffees in flavors and decaffeinated as well as single origin and blends,
and includes such characters as “Salvador Dolly”, “Ethiopia Sophie”,
“Colombiana Locita”, “Costa Rita”, “Nutty Hazel”, “Edgy Essie Espresso” and
“Vanilla Virginia”. A selection of organic Fair Trade teas, including green
tea and Chai is also available. Their on line store, lesbeanscoffee.com,
offers free shipping, bulk rates, coffee service and “Beanwear”. They may be
reached at (877) 262-2384. |
