Wrap-Up of Events |

2
Saturday nights ago was the annual She King contest produced by Alison
& Julie of Ultra Events, and this year was just as popular and
entertaining as in the past. There were 7 very qualified contestants and
hundreds of onlookers. Last Years Winner, Spikey Dikey, put on some
phenomenal performances and then went on to crown Aidan
Justus.
After Leaving the She King contest I headed over to Circuit
Saturdays at Steel/Jackhammer to see DJ Alison Calagna who, as
always, packed the dance floor. There was also a fabulous performance by Noel
Leon and dancers.
Friday
night on
South Beach always brings a welcome end to work week for most
South Floridians
and this week was no exception. Drag shows were presented at the Palace
and Tantra as well as the spectacular Cabaret at Funkshion
presented by Edison Farrow. Also seen at the party at Funkshion were
several producers, writers and stars of films showing at the Miami Gay and
Lesbian Film Festival.
After
the shows it was off to Score where DJ Eddie X was pumping up the
party. Luis Morera and the guys at Score always have got go-go boys and a
crowd that has to be seen to be believed.
Saturday night world famous DJ Peter Rauhofer took to the
turntables at Coliseum spinning his birthday mix of
beats
and there was no lack of hot guys on hand to cheer him on. TP Lords took
to the stage and worked it. The lights and décor were totally on as well and
nobody left Coliseum disappointed. Congratulations to Gary and the staff
on another spectacular party.
Peter Burkes
monthly Gay Tea Cruise set sail on
Fort Lauderdale’s
Intracoastal Waterway once again and this month there was a spectacular show put
on in the skies
overhead
by the US Military. It was an up close Air Sea show spectacular that had to be
seen to be believed. If that wasn’t enough Steve Otero and Rod
Stephen’s took it all off and Deja performed as Whitney Houston.
Once again the Tea Cruise was sold out. Get your tickets early this month and be
sure to be on board for the next Tea Cruise, Memorial Day weekend.

EveInterrupted, Pro-Women, Feminist art
|
|
As some of you may know, EveInterrupted, for the most part
has created Pro- Women, Feminist art events where the topic has usually been
about “their oppressors” as lesbian women. But now the tables have turned and
they would like to address the issues of self hatred and oppression towards
ourselves. Why do women create cliques against each other and more importantly,
why is there such an obvious division in the Lesbian Community? There are
classist, racist issues that keep them from pulling each other up and they would
like to address these issues by creating a clever and mocking type of scenario
where they take a look at themselves and realize their situation. Audience
participation is part of the act. Artists included in this scenario are
Janette Valentine, Tabatha Mudra, Mikelle A. Moore, Denise McMorris, Kristin
Currier & VAM. Live art by Pookah will be included in the mix as well
as a poem by Crystal McAdams. There will be drawings & photography that
depict the “catty” behavior women act towards one another while artist VAM will
mock the Lesbian establishments that make up our nightlife community and the
competitive nature they have towards one another. To accompany this fabulous art
event will be the hard hitting beats of DJ Heather Holiday & DJ D-Lokx.
Afterwards, release your stress to the loud thunderous sounds of
Miami’s
own All Girl Rock band, The Righteous Devices! Scared? You should be!
EveInterrupted are the Originators of the “All Girl Art Party.” This time
around, the event will be taking place at Amendment XXI Bar & Lounge, 190
NE 47th Street, in the heart of the Design District. This event takes place,
Thursday, May 17th from
7pm
- 12am. |

Aqua
Girl ’07, May 10 - May 13 is expected to attract thousands of women from all over the world,
converging on Miami
/ Miami Beach for five fun-filled days of music, dancing, dining, comedy,
kayaking and friendship – as only women can do! Now in its seventh year, Aqua
Girl has evolved to be ranked among the most widely attended events for women
and is the nation’s largest non-profit women’s weekend. One hundred percent of
the proceeds from Aqua Girl benefits the Aqua Foundation for Women
(previously the Women’s Community Fund), a not-for-profit 501(C)3 organization,
which also produces the event. The Foundation’s primary mission is to promote
the equality, strength, health and visibility of gay, lesbian, bisexual and
transgender
(GLBT) women. Aqua Girl ’07 events take place at some of the hottest nightclubs,
restaurants and venues in the Miami
area, with an A-List roster of entertainment, including DJs Shannon, Pride,
