will be appearing live at the Tampa Imrov on Friday and Saturday
January 11&12 with 2 shows nightly. On Friday her shows are at 8 & 10:30
Saturday her shows are at and 7:30 & 10. Margaret started performing stand-up at
age 16 in a comedy club called The Rose & Thistle above a
bookstore her parents ran. Soon after, she won a comedy contest where first
prize was opening for Jerry Seinfeld. She moved to
Los Angeles in the early '90s and lived in a house with several
other young performers. Still in her early twenties, Cho hit the college
circuit, where she immediately became the most booked act in the market and
garnered a nomination for Campus Comedian of The Year. Arsenio Hall
introduced her to late night audiences, Bob Hope put her on a prime time
special and, seemingly overnight, Margaret Cho became a national celebrity. In
1994, she starred in a short-lived ABC sitcom called All-American Girl.
In 1999, Margaret chronicled her experience on the sitcom in an off Broadway
one-woman show called I'm The One That I Want. The show was
extremely well received, toured the
U.S., and was made into a
concert film and a best-selling book of the same name. After the success of her
first show, Margaret launched Notorious C.H.O. in 2001. Margaret
embarked on her third sold-out national tour, Revolution, in 2003.
The tour ultimately grossed 4.4M and was heralded as "Her strongest show yet!"
by the Chicago Sun Times. That same year the CD was nominated for a Grammy
for Best Comedy Album of the Year. This year, Margaret was the recipient of
the first ever Best Comedy Performance award at the 2007 Asian Excellence
Awards. She also recently received the First Amendment Award from the ACLU of
Southern California, and the Intrepid Award from the National Organization
for Women (NOW). She has also been honored by GLAAD, American Women in
Radio and Television, the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, the National
Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF), the Asian American Legal Defense and
Education Fund (AALDEF), and PFLAG for "making a significant difference
in promoting equal rights for all, regardless of race, sexual orientation or
gender identity."
Bob
Carr Performing Arts Center at 600 west Amelia Street in Orlando
presents The D-List Diva Kathy Griffin on Tuesday Jan 15th.
At a time when some stand-up comedy was turning from punch-line orientation
to humorous social commentary and satire, Kathy Griffin established her
career with candid observations about her dating life. Later, she began to
focus on mocking celebrities and her act currently consists of recounting
embellished stories involving celebrities. Occasionally, she is the butt of
her own humor, particularly with regard to her D-List status.

With a new year upon us,
loyal patrons and customers at the popular gay sports bar,
Sidelines Sports Bar, are
ready for action and competitive play in the new nine-ball pool tournaments
held there every Thursday night and Saturday afternoon. While the Q Ball Pool
League, played on Tuesdays, was on hiatus for the fall and holiday season,
many pool sharks found themselves without their dose of bank shots, billiard
chalk, and english spins. So, to quench their thirst, friendly games of
nine-ball pool were started at Sidelines and now by popular demand, the club’s
management decided to offer nine-ball pool tournaments on Thursdays at 8 PM and
Saturdays at 3 PM. Interested players can contact Chris at Sidelines
Sports Bar @ (954) 563-8001 for more information and registration. “There
is such a yearning for competitive sports in our community, we are simply
thrilled to be able to offer the venue and quality games for all to come and
have fun!”, stated Laurie Whittaker, one of the owners of Sidelines.
Sidelines Sports Bar, with its 16 flat-screen TVs, 3 pool tables, 3 dartboards,
and other video games, continues to provide a fun, friendly and comfortable
environment for gay men and women who enjoy all kinds of sports. Use this link
