Loved It ***** (FIVE STARS)
Yet again
Stephen King
has proven why he is the Master of Suspense. Ever since
his car accident he has left the spooks behind and dove
right into the human mind and is focusing on the
psychological dilemma's that torment us as mortal humans.
Congratulations to the director
Mikael Hafstrom who was
able to truly capture the inner anguish of the mind, and yet
being able to suspend the realm of reality: Is it really
happening or is it supernatural torture.
We follow the life of Mike Enslin (John
Cusack) who is a writer capitalizing on haunted
hotels, the funny thing here is that he truly investigates
these hotels to write about them but until now has never
seen a real ghost and does not even believe they are
real. Once in this hotel he is warned, by the hotel
manager, Gerard Olin (Samuel
L. Jackson), even forbidden to stay in this room
for it is truly evil. Mike, a true skeptic, talks his way
into the room and is determined to prove that it is not
haunted. Thus is when the drama begins.
You must go see
1408
for it is a step above the rest, not to mention its in a
whole new genre. Yes this is a horror movie, yet its not a
monster movie or a film full of CGI effect to scare you,
however like I mentioned the new
Stephen King
is able to take everyday life and twist it around and
portray it in a fantastic creepy new way. Was Mike Haunted
by ghosts or was he truly haunted and tormented by his past
and the memories that live within his own mind?
Wow this film was wicked good, and you must go see this
film, again its not designed to scare you out of your mind
-- even though it probably will. Instead, its intended to
make you use it, and dwell inward you. Go see this movie
I'm most certain you too will love it.
