LOVED IT *****(FIVE STARS) |
|
|
This movie is
a hidden gem, and an absolute must see. I don't know why it
wasn't overly advertised or pushed more in the media but
this movie was simply brilliant. I can not tell you how
much I loved this movie. We are lead on our journey with an
all star cast (David
Duchovny, Julianne
Moore, Billy
Crudup, Maggie
Gyllenhaal, and Eva
Mendes) with superb acting ability, and unbridled
chemistry. I must tell you this movie ministered to me in
a weird way. I felt that I left the theatre blessed, almost
as if I was given a new intelligent look on life. |
|
For the most part this film
was an incredibly well written story about relationships,
and the unique and quirky behaviors within them. Dare I say
the subtitle for the film was "Love is a four letter word."
We are drawn to the tightly woven cast, and exposed to all
of their faults. Honestly that may be why I loved
this film so much, because they were human, everyone had
faults, and this picture was portrayed in the most
realistic way. It was as if real life was exposed on the big
screen for us to enjoy. However just as in real life you
must take the the good with the bad, and there were the
characters in this journey that didn't give a care in the
world to the vows of marriage or the unity that is found
within those vows. Living in the now, not caring how it
would affect their loved ones. We see how the dishonesty
of only a few characters affects everyone in the film and
you see how they recuperate or come back from their
digressions. |

Julianne Moore played
Rebecca who was a famous movie star making her stage debut
as a Broadway actress, and we are witness to her break down
and realize that she is not perfect and that she is weak
just like everyone else. We met her husband Tom (David
Duchovny) who is now dealing with becoming a
house husband in a sexless marriage and the struggle of when
a man has his needs and yet they are not being fulfilled by
the person in whom he is in love. Then we have Rebeccas's
Brother Toby (Billy
Crudup) who is just terrified of life long
commitment, and his girlfriend Elaine (Maggie
Gyllenhaal) who desperately wants a family but is
stuck in a relationship with a man that she loves but is un
capable of giving her what she needs or is even able to hear
her when she is talking. |
|
My favorite line in this film
is when Elaine and Toby are arguing and He is not hearing a
word she is saying and when she breaks down he says: "OK
fine we can take a cab" as if that would solve everything
and that is why she was hurting in the first place. |
|
My favorite scene is when
Elaine sends her book in for publishing and she gets a call
from the president of the company and on their interview /
meeting Maggie gets so nervous and totally embarrasses
herself and you'll see how in the movie. |
|
This movie was truly
spectacular, with deep and realistic character development,
and its a movie that everyone can relate to, and quite
frankly this is probably the best movie I have ever seen
Julianne Moore in for
she was most impressive in this role. You need to go see
this movie now I could not find a single flaw in this film
for it was just great. It even leaves you guessing till the
very end on whether it would end with a positive note or
a sad one. Go see to find out. |
