Loved it *****(Five Stars)

"Are you ready to accept the Mustang Challenge?"  If so be prepared to get the chills, Laugh, cry, scream, and cheer.  This is an incredible journey, based on a true story, in which we follow correctional officer Sean Porter (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) who works for Camp Kilpatrick.  Sean is frustrated that 75% of the kids that leave the center are back in jail or dead by the time they are 21 and he wants to make a difference.  So as a former football star he decides to take what he knows and try a new approach to reach these teenage felons.  To find a way to teach them teamwork and self respect. So he and  Malcolm Moore (Xzibit) become the coaches that take the lives of these kids into their care and try to teach them not only football but they also teach them that they can be winners, and not just losers.  I must admit it is a truly enjoyable experience to watch these boys unite on the Gridiron for the Gridiron knows no gang or allegiance it is its own bond.

In the beginning the the cinematography is so chaotic, and actually very annoying.  Even the storyline starts off raw, realistic and brutally direct yet as the plot begins to unfold so does the your feelings and emotions as the audience.  You actually begin to sympathize for these young boys, as they on some level feel that they are standing up for their pride and or what they feel is right. I will say however that this movie made me very glad that I’m GAY -- It was full of way too much testosterone.
Warning, there are a few scenes where you may get a little Misty Eye'd, for the director Phil Joanou truly sucked us in and had our emotions in the palm of his hand the entire film.   With those emotions he will take you on a roller coaster full of extreme highs and a few very tender moments, all inclusive with a moralistic lesson.  I love that his film was able to show that crime does not pay!  Even though gangs give a false sense of brotherhood they are losers if they let others control their thoughts or emotions, or how they should think or feel, all the while leaving you alone in the end, if you are left alive that is.
This film was well acted and the character development was definitely believable even in the tender moments.
I had no idea what this movie was about, I just went to see it for it had Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in it, and the truth is no matter how hott he is I hate football, but what I hate more than football is truly loving and cheering for a movie about football.  However I will admit I am a sucker for inspirational movies, and this one is very deep and emotional film that gives the audience a reason to stand up and cheer.   Go see this movie and you will love it!

PS.   Stay tuned for the actual footage played through the credits.

Gridiron Gang starring The RockGridiron Gang
Sports Drama and Adaptation. The uplifting story of detention camp probation officer Sean Porter (Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson), who creates a high-school-level football team from a ragtag group of dangerous teenage inmates as a means to teach them self-respect and social responsibility. He is joined in this experiment by co-worker, Malcolm Moore. But Porter must first overcome almost universal resistance from the powers that be -- his skeptical bosses and coaches at rival high schools who don't want their players mixing it up with convicted criminals on the football field. 2 hours, 6 min. MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for some startling scenes of violence, mature thematic material and language).
