Are you a
loser? "A loser is a person that tries but fails". If you
are then you may need to attend the School for Scoundrels.
Actually are two main reasons to go see this movie. One:
Because you are ready to laugh your ass off, for this movie
is hilarious and will actually make you laugh out loud if
not scream with delight. Two: You simply don't want to be
a loser anymore. Roger (Jon
Heder) bay be able to teach you a thing or two as
we watch this nerdy meter maid go from loser to self
confident lion in one movie. |
As
the audience you cannot help but become sympathetic for
Roger (Jon
Heder) for in the very beginning he gets shot at
for giving a parking ticket, he loses his uniform and shoes,
and then when he shows up as a volunteer big brother, he
finds out that the little brother he has been playing with
wants a different big brother. This being the third kid
in a row who doesn't want to play with him he is then asked
to quit the program. To top it off he has these panic
attacks where he cannot breathe and then passes out. Ouch
-- Loser, that is when he finds out about the secret under
ground program (much like that found in
Fight Club) only
this one is a class taught by Dr P (Billy
Bob Thornton) with the assistant Lesseir (Michael
Clarke Duncan of
The Green Mile)
Beware I think there is a definite homo vibe with this
assistant. |

The cast was incredible;
Jon Heder played the
innocent and naive Roger who is for lack of a better term
lovable.
Billy Bob Thornton was
the antichrist incarnate where as he was trying to help
these week men become stronger he was also the devil and
could not be trusted.
Jacinda Barrett whom I
recognized from recent film success
Poseidon was
beautiful and sweet and loving. She was the perfect
romantic interest Amanda. Her roommate was played by
Sarah Silverman and to
be honest this is one of those instances where the
supporting cast is so brilliant that they steal the scene
every time they are present. I actually looked forward to
the scenes she was in. The rest of the supporting cast was
also brilliant and full of well known comedians like
Horatio Sanz, and
Ben Stiller. |
There
are so many funny parts but I will tell to stay tuned to the
elevator scene for it is the best, I laughed so hard I
cried. I think I even Peed a little, and my favorite Line
is: "There are two types of people in the world. Those
that run shit and those that eat shit!" I personally want
to be the one that runs shit. |
|
You need to go see this movie,
it will lift your spirits and most definitely make you feel
much better about yourself and or help you improve
yourself. |
|
To be honest this movie is not
something I would have wanted to see or would have paid to
go see on my own accord. Yet I have to tell you that this
movie totally rocked, the only flaw I could find was
Billy Bob Thornton's
toupee was just really bad and if you watch closely they
switched it out for a different wig in one of the scenes
only to put it back later. |

School for Scoundrels
( Opens
September 29th) Comedy and Remake. Roger (Jon Heder) is
a beleaguered meter maid who is plagued by anxiety and low
self-esteem. In order to overcome his feelings of
inadequacy, Roger enrolls in a top-secret
confidence-building class taught by the suavely underhanded
Dr. P. (Billy Bob Thornton). Aided by his assistant, Lesher
(Michael Clarke Duncan), Dr. P uses unorthodox, often
dangerous methods, but he guarantees results: Employ his
techniques and you will unleash your inner lion. Surrounded
by a band of misfit classmates, Roger's confidence grows and
he makes his way to the head of the class, even finding the
courage to ask out his longtime crush, Amanda (Jacinda
Barrett). But Roger quickly discovers that star students
have a way of catapulting Dr. P's competitive side into high
gear. 1 hour, 40 minutes. MPAA Rating: PG-13 (for language,
crude and sexual content, and some violence).
