Basically if
you liked the first chapter you will like part 2, for it
keeps the same scary people, and the same consistent
haunting / eerie feeling the whole movie where the fury was
unleashed and it wanted you to suffer the way it suffered.
However, like its predecessor
The Grudge I didn't
feel it was scary at all, yet it was creepy. That is unless
they are scaring you by confusing you to the point where you
don't know what's going on and or why. But to me confusion
is irritating and not scary. There were a lot of time warps
that were never explained, but if you were quick you would
figure out by the end what was happening. |

I loved the
Mean Girls aspect
to the beginning, how the popular girls were being mean to
the outcast and took her to the haunted house. But that was
really it. There was no real character development for
anyone in this movie really they introduced characters and
that's about it. You got to watch them with no real
emotional attachment to them at all.

I appreciated the fact that
it introduced an explanation for the journal that was in the
first chapter. How the girl spirit kept a journal from
childhood and when she was young her mother was a witch
doctor and fed her spirits. Yet there was so much of this
movie that was left unexplained. I understand that once you
were infected by the spirit it followed you everywhere you
went however how did all the people in Chicago get infected,
it never showed transfer like to the high school girls best
friend. Yet I have to say her scene with the milk carton
was the scariest / grossest scene in the whole movie.
Another part that was never explained is why did some people
disappear when they were attacked and some not? Most were
just killed, but some disintegrated into thin air?

They definitely enforced the
PG-13 so there was no real nudity or language, however
you do get to see some hot man chest in the shower, yet
again of another character that had no depth or importance. |

Overall this movie was
annoying to me, it had some cute special effects like with
all the pics in the dark room, but over all I was annoyed
with the inconsistency and the lack of explanation, and the
fact that it just wasn't scary. But most importantly
I hated it when the Japanese spoke with no translation or
sub titles. However I still say if you saw the first and
liked it you will enjoy this one but over all I think this
movie was a big disappointment. |
