Known
for their laughing skull exterior, the Vortex Bar & Grill
has become a landmark in Atlanta's Little Five Points neighborhood.
Besides its kooky exterior, the bar and grill is also known for their
amazing burgers, homemade soups and chilis, freshly-prepared salads,
pub-style sandwiches and appetizers.
Some
of their more unusual menu items include Grilled Fluffernutter X-treme,
which is peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, fried bananas and bacon on
griddled Texas Toast; Trailer Park Cheezer, which is homemade whiskey
pimento cheese topped with bacon, fried pickles, cole slaw and barbecued
potato chips, served on griddled rye; and the Big Nine-Inch Weenie,
which is a big thick and delicious, grilled over an open flame, served
naked on a butter-griddled bun.
As you can see, there are a great variety of dishes, but the burgers are
the real star. There is a whole page of burger options on their menu,
separated into levels – The Usual Suspects, The Vortex Signature Series,
The Original Vortex Heart Stoppers and Superstack Heart Attack Burgers.
Known
for serving the best veggie burger in Atlanta, it’s a great place for
vegetarians. On the flipside, Vortex has also been honored with being
named the place with the Best Hot Dog, so carnivores will also be
pleased.
The Vortex also has a huge beer list to choose from and vast selection
of wine and spirits. For a cool atmosphere and great food served with a
sense of humor, you definitely want to check out The Vortex Little Five
Points or the second Vortex location in Midtown.
