Tre Amici at
The Bunker

Once again I
forgot to take a photo of
a spectacular looking lunch and dove right in. Fortunately they
had a photo of the Ybor Sandwich I ordered on their website and
believe it or not, it is 100% accurate! They say
presentation accounts for over 50% of taste perception and the
folks at Tre Amici at the Bunker definitely know how to lay out
a plate.
 We ordered an Ybor
Sandwich, a variation on the standard
Cuban sandwich. The Ybor sandwich is made with sliced deli ham,
prosciutto, roasted pork and sun-dried tomato pesto and is
pressed (smashed and toasted) on Cuban bread. The sandwich comes with Terra
vegetable chips. We
also ordered the hummus platter
which included the hummus, a creamy olive pate and warm
pita bread for dipping. We enjoyed everything immensely and
delighted in the fact that the folks next to us were raving
about everything they were served as well.
 The menu at Tre Amici also includes a Caprese Salad, Italian
Turkey sandwich, a Meat and Cheese Platter, a Chicken Salad
sandwich, and the Pianta Sandwich which comes with avacados,
sun-dried tomato pesto, fresh tomatoes, olives, Swiss cheese
and is served on Cuban bread or a croissant. There's also a robust
selection for breakfast and of course, the "Traditional Cuban
Sandwich."
Something we found
interesting is that the plastic items used to serve to go orders
are made from corn. Who knew you could make
plastics from corn?
The restaurant prides itself on being eco conscious and they
just raised my level, and now yours, up a notch.
Tre Amici is not only a restaurant, it's a great wine bar, coffee house and
gathering place. With several taste tempting desserts and a
selection of organic coffees and teas, indoor and outdoor
seating and a nice park directly across the street, it's a great
place to while away the time... and write a restaurant review.
