Shawn & Nick's Courtyard Cafe at The Depot Cabana Bar offers a

If you have not yet
ventured over to Federal Highway
to check out the Depot’s new
digs, then you need to put it on
your list of places to go. .
.and soon. The all new Depot is
more than just a place to grab a
cocktail to wet your whistle,
although they still offer some
of the best drink specials in
town, such as the “all drinks
are $1.99 on Mondays. The
“grill” part of the Depot’s name
is a great clue to the fact they
now offer a menu of food to
accompany those amazing drinks.
If you and your
friends—and the Depot is a great
place to hang out with
friends—happen to have the
munchies, the menu offers an
interesting array of options to
satisfy your cravings. Try the
crab fritters or the coconut
shrimp if you feel in a mood for
something in the seafood family.
Crackling with crunchy
deliciousness and yet never
greasy, part of the fun is
choosing the dipping sauce to go
with them. I am partial to the
caper mayo. It has the just the
right amount of spiciness to
keep it interesting and yet not
overwhelm the flavors of the
crab or the shrimp.
Feeling in the mood for
something warm, cozy, and homey?
Dive into a bowl of the Smoked
Gouda Mac & Cheese. An
interesting twist on an old
favorite, it is creamy with the
just a touch of the Gouda’s
smoky flavor to make it unique.
It’s an appetizer that will give
you that warm, fuzzy feeling
inside. The Mac & Cheese is also
available as a side to accompany
the menu’s sandwiches. Other
appetizer options include
Fries—loaded or not—Sweet Potato
Fries, Loaded Nachos, Jalapeno
Poppers, Fried Mushrooms, Shrimp
Cocktail, Hushpuppies, and
Mozzarella Sticks. Dipping sauce
options start with traditional
cocktail sauce as well as
horseradish mayo, orange
marmalade, and sweet and sour.
If you need a little more
than a munchie, the menu
includes several entrees as
well. I am partial to the Mahi
Mahi Sandwich because I like the
option of having it blackened.
The seasonings offer a kick to
fish and a contrast to the cool
crispness of the lettuce and
tomato. The Grilled Chicken
Sandwich offers a healthy option
that can become more decadent
with the addition of cheese and
bacon. Go for it! You won’t be
sorry. The Cabana Wrap steps
away from some more traditional
wraps with the addition of goat
cheese, cucumber, and balsamic
vinaigrette. It is available in
chicken, steak, or shrimp
varieties. Sometimes a burger is
the only thing that will do, and
the Depot’s is perfect. Don’t
expect a perfectly round
pre-formed burger patty here.
The burgers are made fresh to
order, as are all the dishes on
the menu, and they come to you
with lettuce, tomato, onion, and
pickle. It satisfies that
“burger itch” perfectly.
The menu even offers you a
“build your own” pasta option
with either penne or angel hair
pasta. Choose from Marinara,
Pomadora, or Pesto Alfredo. Add
chicken or shrimp to bump up the
protein level if you care to.
You will be treated to a warm
bowl of soothing, delicious
flavors that are sure to calm
that gnawing hunger pang in your
stomach.
The atmosphere
at the new Depot is friendly,
laid-back, and comfortable. The
large bar area, with individual
booths on two sides, dominates
the room and offers great seats
to check out whatever may be
playing on one the many TV
screens. Service is friendly,
quick, and prompt. But what the
Depot offers that no other place
in the area has is the outdoor
pool and surrounding deck. On
our beautiful South Florida
winter days, it’s the ideal spot
to sip a cocktail, have a bite
to eat, and let the cares and
worries of the day fade away.
One of the Cabana boys will see
to it that your drinks are never
empty and your food is served
promptly. It’s a great location
to wile away a sunny afternoon
or to enjoy our fantastic winter
evenings.
In addition to
the great food options, the
friendly bar, and the beautiful

entertainment options on various
nights: live music, karaoke, or
