Gay and Lesbian Key West has a lot to be proud of. The
City’s official motto is “One Human Family.” The Business
Guild is one of the nation’s first gay and lesbian chambers
of commerce, established in 1978, and Key West has been
welcoming GLBT visitors and their friends long before that
time.
Key West has its own Gay and Lesbian Community Center
(GLCC) complete with Museum and Archive, the Guild’s Visitor
Center located within The Center, and the only City Aids
Memorial in the Country.
The Key West Pride Festival is a 9 day event
consisting of an array of cultural events that
celebrate the incredibly diverse community that
supports or identifies with gay, lesbian,
transsexual, transgendered, intersex, two-spirited
and queer people and their allies.
PrideFest 2011 will
include a mix of dance and cocktail parties, contests,
shows, forums, activities on the water, tours, a street fair
and the Pride Parade along Duval Street.
