Duplex Diner, Classic Comfort Food In America's Capitol City
-
by The Mark's List Gang,
The Duplex Diner is the neighborhood gathering place
in
Washington, DC. From the beginning, the Duplex Diner filled a void that existed in DC – a fun and inviting bar and restaurant where you can
go and have drinks or dinner any night of the week and always feel welcome, whether you
are sitting at a booth with friends or solo at the bar.
The Duplex Diner offers deceptively simple fare—classic comfort foods like Mac and Cheese, Meatloaf, Tater Tots, Pork Chops, Brownie Sundaes, as well as Low Country favorites like Fried Green Tomatoes, Shrimp and Grits and seasonal Cobblers.

The service
at the Duplex Diner is personal and never pretentious. Classic cocktails like the
Lemon Squeeze and Rose Kennedy and house favorites like their Broccolini Salad, are served up every night. Longtime traditions, from “Half-Price Mondays,” playlists designed on Thursdays by regular customers and local notables, D-CU’PS’s Dolly Parton Birthday Celebration to the Janky Xmas Sweater Holiday Party are just some of the many reasons the Duplex has become a gathering place for the
DC Gay and Lesbian community.
It's been years since they first opened their doors and the Duplex Diner remains what it set out to be – a fun and comfortable destination that serves
delicious comfort food and tasty libations and is always a good time.
