Hit The Slopes
Aspen Gay Ski Week Celebrates 36 Years
by Nick Mangiapane and other contributors

It's time to book your Aspen Gay Ski Week hotel rooms! This year's event takes place in January in what is considered by many to be America's premier Rocky Mountain ski resort town. While the main event takes place on the slopes surrounding Aspen, it is no less important to make sure that you find a hotel that will land you in the center of all the action. The Limelight Hotel is this year's host hotel. Other hotels that are steps away from the mountain include the historic Hotel Jerome, Kimpton's Sky Hotel and the Aspen Mountain Lodge. While in Aspen, we recommend you check out these restaurants that are outside of the hotels, The Red Onion, Wild Fig and Gisella.

Aspen Colorado is one of the most exclusive and luxurious ski towns in the world. With four massive mountains including 5,300 acres of skiable terrain, it’s no wonder Aspen Gay Ski Week has become such a huge gathering. This premier LGBT winter travel event has a history rooted 36 years and it is continuing to grow with every year that passes. The event is going down January 13th-20th, 2013. Not only is this event about partying, making new friends, and shredding the mountain, it is also a fundraiser for The Roaring Fork Gay and Lesbian Community Fund supporting various charities of gay and lesbian interest in Colorado.

From the moment you arrive in Aspen, to the time of departure, your events calendar will be jam packed for you to choose your perfect itinerary. There will be sexy pool and hot tub parties, dance parties, shows, movies, spa times, and of course, skiing and snowboarding. With so many different things going on, Aspen Gay Ski Week wanted to make your event planning easier by offering different passes. The Patron Pass includes VIP admission to the Opening Cocktail Party, All Galas, the Pool Party, Apres Ski Parties, Late Night Lounges, Film Night Reception, seating at the Downhill Costume Competition and Parade, a Patron Gift Bag, One-Day Lift Ticket, a Week Pass to the Aspen Club & Spa, and VIP access to all official GSW parties and events. The Patron Pass is $750 and includes a charitable donation of $150. The Black Diamond Pass includes General admission to the Opening Cocktail Party, All Galas, the Pool Party, Apres Ski Parties, Late Night Lounges, and a One-Day Pass to the Aspen Club & Spa. The Black Diamond Pass is $300 and includes a Charitable Donation of $75.

The host hotel for the Aspen gay Ski Week is The Limelight Lodge. This lodge is conveniently located near Aspen Mountain and renowned downtown landmarks and hotspots. It is “vintage in spirit and contemporary in design.” Rooms start as low as $199/night and the rooms are going quickly!

Take time away from your busy schedule and enjoy the great outdoors and maybe even the great indoors if you are lucky. “If you enjoy skiing, snowboarding, dining, shopping, music, comedy and more… you will love Aspen Gay Ski Week!” What happens on the slopes, stays on the slopes.
