HivSocialGroupFL
is a 1600+ member strong grassroots organization
of HIV+ gay men, and we are now in our third year.
HivSocialGroupFL
is the leading peer based organization in the
Broward and Miami Dade County area that speaks for
the social needs of HIV+ gay men.
Our original creation came from the growing
awareness in the HIV+ community for a need for
social connection and networking beyond that
provided by traditional social service
organizations. HIV has ruined many lives and
created many barriers. HivSocialGroupFL saw
the need for an organization of HIV+ gay men to
promote social activities that would allow for
development of valuable connections, networking, and
community building.
We welcome all gay men without regard to race,
color, age, religion, national origin, or disability
who are living with HIV/AIDS in Broward & Miami Dade
County and neighboring communities. We have no
membership dues or formalities. Anyone who comes to
a HivSocialGroupFL event or has subscribed to
our confidential email list is a member.
In 2003, HivSocialGroupFL promoted 140
events which were attended by over 9,800 gay men.
While most of our members are from the Broward
County area, we also have members who reside in
SoBe, Miami, West Palm, and Key West, and
visitors from other cities such as Tampa, St Pete
and Orlando.
For those that may think, they will feel out of
place or a bump on a log at the event. Don't
worry, we plan on making sure everyone feels at home
and meets everyone at these events. Its a priority
for us, that we make sure YOU have a fun time at
these events. We ONLY use E-mail to send out
invites and directions. I hope the following
discription gives you an idea of what to expect.

bunch)
There are no corporate sponsors and no one makes
any money from these events. Certainly none of us
gets paid. We sustain ourselves by eating stale
candy and popcorn from movie theaters seats and by
returning to those pesky day jobs. No one knows
what 501c3 means as there is no money to count
anyway. We do this out of altruism and our big
hearts.
Well, that and we are desperate to find decent
HIV + boyfriends.
MISSION STATEMENT
These events are social gatherings for HIV+ GAY
men.
No boring lectures, seminars or speakers. We
come to meet each other. Some guys come to meet Mr.
Right or get away from Mr. Wrong, others to meet old
friends and new, some to 'be pos' (as opposed to
closeted at home), and a number of newbies.
This is NOT a circuit party event nor
organized sex party nor drug party.
We are NOT into PnP or Chem Friendly
At these events NO ONE is allowed to bitch and
tell everyone how bad life is. We all have HIV and
know what its like. We don't need you to tell us.
These events are for having a FUN time.
Our last rule is: YOU MUST HAVE FUN.
Most of us are long term survivors and are NOT in
need of HIV-101 support group. What we are
interested in is meeting other HIV POZ men. We are
looking for other NORMAL men (well as normal as
anyone can be) to join the group.
This is a SOCIAL GROUP to meet other HIV +
gay men. NOT A BITCHING SESSION. If you are the
type that is always bitching DON'T bother to show
up. You will not last long at this fun social group
and be asked to leave.
