Miami’s J.D. Ordonez was one of the cast members of
MTV’S Real World Brooklyn where he made an impression
with his good looks, compelling back-story and
compassionate outlook. The hot dolphin trainer is back
on South Florida's sunny shores and can be found
bartending at
Twist
and possibly, soon, on a television near you. I caught
up with J.D. to see what he has going on.
SE:
How has your life changed since your Real World
experience?
JD:
The Real World has given me the platform to tell the
world "My True Story" instead of just the story of seven
or, in my case, eight strangers. I speak at colleges
about rising above your past, on LGBT issues, etc. I
have also resumed my career as a dolphin trainer.
SE: Do you plan on being in any Real World/Road Rules
Challenges?
JD:
Yes, just look out! Hint...hint...
SE:
Who are you still in touch with from the cast?
JD: Everyone stays in touch with each other. At the end
of it all we are a family and we all went through a
once-in-a-life experience very few people get to have.
SE:
Where are your favorite places to hang out in Miami/Fort
Lauderdale?
JD: I
am actually bartending at
Twist
in South Beach. I worked in several clubs and bars while
I was attending the University of Miami. I resumed
tending bar for fun and to get me out there. It's kind
of my connection to the local scene and I love the
atmosphere. I also have to say the people I work with
are amazing and are a ton of fun to work with! What can
I say? I'm a workaholic! Full time dolphin trainer,
bartender, and on my weekends I'm all over the country
speaking on LGBT issues and doing bar/club appearances.
You only live once and I have to take the opportunity
that was given to me to the fullest.
SE: What is your guilty pleasure or what is something
unusual about you that most people don’t know?
JD: I
enjoy taking time off my busy schedule and just hanging
out with friends and going to the beach. A good vacation
overseas is overdue though. . . |
