D.J. and producer Abel Aguilera is a
legend. And the legend will get his due at
Score on
Saturday, June 20 at the party to celebrate his 30
years in the music industry. I talked to Abel to
find out the key to his longevity and how he is
still one of the hottest deejays around.
Sheri Elfman: How do you think
your style has changed in the past 30 years?
Abel Aguilera: My style of
mixing hasn't changed, the style of music has, so I
have to keep up to date, or else I wouldn't be here
30 years later, LOL! I still have a little bit of
1979 in me, but I'm in full force with 2009!
SE: Where is your favorite place to
spin?
AA: In random order, Miami, NYC,
Brazil, Amsterdam. But if I had to pick one, hmm. .
. it would be a tie between Miami and NYC.
SE: What's unique about spinning in
Miami?
AA: Baby, Miami is the land of CHACHA!
It's the tropical air!
SE: What has been your proudest/best
moment as a deejay?
AA: My proudest moment is this June
20, 2009 when I see my crowd and say, Thank you for
God, for such an amazing 30 years in this Industry.
I couldn't have asked for anything better, besides
the Lotto!
SE: Who is YOUR favorite DJ?
AA: There's actually three of my
favorite deejays. Me, Myself, and I. There's a
variety of deeajys in this world, each day more and
more, all distinctively unique in their own way, it
would be very difficult for me to choose one, due to
the fact that I admire them all for what they bring
to the dancefloor. On that note, Thanks to everyone
who has given me their love and support throughout
all these years. We'll see you on a dancefloor near
you soon!
