With the holiday season upon us,
shoppers are scrambling for last minute presents, stocking
stuffers and holiday dinner treats. Instead of the usual guilty
pleasures like gingerbread men or cookies shaped like Santa, why
not try PopsyCakes? Even the name is different from what
shoppers are accustomed to while browsing stores for unique
gifts to surprise loved ones. For those of you who are out of
the loop on PospyCakes, you have come to the right place.
PopsyCakes are gourmet cake pops on a stick—but not just any
stick. The stick is actually a salty pretzel you can finish off
after you have devoured the cupcake, which are homemade and
covered in some of the most delicious chocolate you can imagine.
This combination packs the one-two punch of salty and sweet that
most taste buds crave during any dessert experience.
Created by Jessica Cervantes, PopsyCakes are currently available
in five flavors: Vanilla Bean Dream, Dark Chocolate
Decadence, Strawberry Milkshake, Raspberry Rush and Peanut
Butter Burst. Jessica, who moved to the U.S. from Cuba as a
child, competed against 25,000 business students across the
country and won first place in the Network for Teaching
Entrepreneurship National business plan. Jessica, who now lives
in
Miami, turned to Craig Edelman to take
PopsyCakes to the next level in the market. Mark’s List recently
caught up with Craig Edelman to talk about PopsyCakes, new
flavors, Dwyane Wade’s shout out and where you can find this
delectable treat this season.
How has it been being the
president of PopsyCakes?
I can’t believe it’s been a year and a
half already. My life has been a comic book for the last few
weeks because of the holiday season.
How did Jessica get in contact
with you?
Jessica entered a competition, which
she ended up winning, and one of the judges is a good friend of
mine. When Jessica said she needed help with the business, my
friend immediately thought of me because he knew I am a consumer
product entrepreneur. He called me at work and told me about
PospyCakes and about Jessica. I decided it [PopsyCakes] was
worth taking a chance with.
What interested you the most
about the product?
As a marketer, I loved the idea of
Jessica’s story. When I got involved, Jessica had already done a
lot of interviews and had really gotten her name and story out
there. I thought it was something I could have a lot of
fun with as a start-up company.
There are currently five
flavors out. Are there any plans for new flavors?
Yes, we are actually coming out with a
new flavor very soon: Key Lime.
How exciting was it for Dwyane
Wade to give a shout out to PopsyCakes?
It was amazing. I actually got to go
to his house and meet him and his family. It was a great
experience.
Where can you find PopsyCakes
in
Wilton Manors?
You can get any flavor at
To The Moon and also from our website at
popsycakes.com
