The ships arriving for Fleet Week USA will bring nearly three thousand Navy sailors, Marines and Coast Guard personnel to the nation's favorite liberty port.

In historic tradition, the Goodyear Blimp will escort the ships into port as they arrive the morning of May 3rd. In World War II, Good Year built airships to provide the U.S. Navy with aerial support as convoy escorts, and for anti-submarine patrolling. "Fleet Week USA will give a red carpet welcome to the men and women aboard our visiting Navy ships,“ said event spokeswoman Elaine Fitzgerald. “The public will be able to participate in a number of Fleet Week events, so this is the chance for all of South Florida to say thank you to those sea-going service people who put their lives on the line for our country.”
