- Sun Sentinel: Bachelor Crist crosses
himself on hot topic issues like offshore drilling and so-called marriage
protection initiatives, virtually unscathed, while unsubstantiated claims
about his personal life persist, even in light of his formidable power to
reposition. Right or wrong, it is a shadow cast upon the wall. He has not
maintained the suitable, intimate, lifelong, personal witness the public
wants, and needs, to confirm who he is outside the office. And almost
certainly, we the people of this great nation will never have the chance to
elect him to a higher office without one.

Drudge Report: McCain supporters, claiming they
rescued 12,000 miniature American flags from the site of Barack Obama’s
nomination acceptance speech last Thursday, redistributed the orphan flags
to audience members ahead of a McCain rally in Colorado Springs on
Saturday. The move was an overt swipe at Obama from a campaign whose motto
has been “country first.” But Democratic convention organizers
claimed the flags were not going to be discarded — but instead were snatched
from the site of Obama’s historic address to carry out a “cheap political
stunt.”

- BBC News: China's state-owned oil firm CNPC
has agreed a $3bn oil services contract with the government of Iraq.
The two parties
renegotiated a 1997 deal to pump oil from the Ahdab oilfield, the
Iraqi oil minister said. Under the new deal, output from the oilfield will
be 110,000 barrels per day, up from the 90,000 barrels forecast in the
original deal.

BGAy.com:
It may not come as a
surprise that some religious nutjobs have problems with Katy Perry's
song "I kissed a girl and I liked it" but a church in Ohio may have
taken it one step too far though. Many people driving past the Havens
Corners Church in Blacklick, Ohio, Wednesday were shocked to find
a sign with the text "I kissed a girl and I liked it. Then I went to hell."
outside the church.

Lindsay Lohan
posed nude for a photo shoot with legendary photographer Bert Stern. Bert
recreated an iconic photo shoot he did with Marilyn Monroe 46 years ago for
New York magazine. Why choose Lindsay Lohan? Besides her "depth"
(i.e. sweater cannons), Bert found similarities between the two actresses...

Associated Press: Alaska Gov. Sarah
Palin told ministry students at her former church that the United States
sent troops to fight in the Iraq war on a "task that is from God." In
an address last June, the Republican vice presidential candidate also urged
ministry students to pray for a plan to build a $30 billion natural gas
pipeline in the state, calling it "God's will."

Theatre by
the Book: Falstaff and Hal – Artistic Director: Rafael de Acha.
Rafael
De Acha founded Theatre by the Book to preserve the great literary legacy of
classic theatre by presenting staged readings of the great works of the European
and American stages, at minimal or free admission, with professional actors.
Today’s presentation, a two-part performance of
Falstaff and Hal, consists of a
combination of William Shakespeare’s Henry the Fourth, parts one and two. The play is divided
into four acts and stars Nicholas
Richberg, Peter Haig, John Felix, Michael McKeever, Steve Gladstone, Phillip
Church, Kimberly Daniel and
Annemaria Rajala. Description: The voluminous Sir John
Falstaff and his low-life companions – including Prince Henry, a.k.a. “Hal” or
“Harry” and future King of England – come to terms with the responsibilities of
life and liquor-free military service in this adaptation of two of the Bard’s
Falstaff plays by Rafael de la Acha. The running time of each act is between 40
and 55 minutes. A lengthy interval for Lunch will be taken between acts two and
three. The performance begins at
1pm
with an optional lunch at the half-way point ($15). For reservations, please
call 305-448-9599 Note:
