In a September 25th blog post titled 'The Nation
Will Right Itself If It Fixes Sex', Christian Civil League of
Maine Executive Director Michael Heath writes that the financial
crisis facing Wall Street is a symptom of America's sinful
sexual culture, including the acceptance of gay unions.

GrrlPlanet: Recently treated
for depression, Heather Locklear was arrested for Driving
Under the Influence. It seems that she is being accused of having
some “controlled substance” in her, according to TMZ.com.

Mercury News:The nation — and the city of Laramie
— has become more accepting of gays and lesbians in the 10 years
since a gay University of Wyoming student was beaten, lashed
to a lonely fence and left to die, his mother said Saturday.

Washington Post:
While some journalists say privately they are censoring their
comments about Palin to avoid looking like they're piling on,
pundits on the right are jumping ship. MSNBC's Joe
Scarborough says Palin "just seems out of her league." National
Review Editor Rich Lowry called her performance "dreadful."
Dallas Morning News columnist Rod Dreher described the
interview as a "train wreck." Conservative columnist Kathleen
Parker urged Palin to quit the race, saying: "If BS were
currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself."

Beautiful Mag:Already known as
a model in the Middle East, Fadi Cherry
was discovered and picked up from his home country Saudi Arabia
by a European underwear brand. He made
the jump, moved to London and from that moment on, things happened really fast
for Fadi, who became known in the west as Arabian fella. Fadi Cherry
is 29 years old and lives in London, UK. This is where he moved after he was
discovered as a model for Med Underwear. More pics after the jump,

Popwatch Blog: As a bigger music fan than football fan, I wish I could
say that Bruce Springsteen is bigger than the Super Bowl, that he
should have better things to do than play a hasty 12-minute medley of his hits,
as a sideshow to a sporting event, for an audience that didn't show up just to
see him. But the truth is, he's not, and after the likes of the Rolling
Stones, Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, Prince, Tom Petty, U2, and others
have paved the way, there's no way Springsteen can say he's above performing at
this winter's Superbowl halftime show.

TMZ: Following in the
heterosexual footsteps of Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg,
Pete Wentz has contributed money to fight Prop 8 and keep
same sex marriage legal in California.
Alter Net: [Yesterday] the US House rejected Treasury Secretary
Paulson's $700 billion Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008.
Paulson said he has the votes, but Paulson was wrong. The House bucked the
Paulson's claim that buying up the illiquid mortgage-backed assets from the
nation's banks would be enough to save the financial system from an impending
meltdown. The jury remains out on that question, too. Professor Nouriel
Roubini, chairman of Roubini Global Economics, summed it up like
this, "You're not resolving the two fundamental issues: You still have to
recapitalize the banking system, and household debt is going to stay high". A
large number of economists believe Roubini is right. The bill would not solve
the underlying problems.

Saturday Night Live:
Tina Fey does it again!
365 Gay: Pastor Luke
Emrich prepared his sermon this week knowing his remarks could
invite an investigation by the Internal Revenue Service. But
that was the whole point, so Emrich forged ahead with his message:
Thou shalt vote according to the Scriptures. All told, 33 pastors in
22 states were to make pointed recommendations about political
candidates Sunday, an effort orchestrated by the Arizona-based
Alliance Defense Fund.
The conservative legal group plans to send copies of the pastors’
sermons to the IRS with hope of setting off a legal fight and
abolishing restrictions on church involvement in politics. Critics
call it unnecessary, divisive and unlikely to succeed.

The Atlantic:
Democracy is not perfect, and one of its many imperfections is that
voters tend to be ignorant. I don't mean to be insulting. There are,
after all, perfectly rational reasons for this ignorance. In a
republic of 300 million, the chances of an individual vote affecting
a national outcome are slim, and it makes little sense for the
individual voter to invest scarce resources in learning about
complicated issues, like health care or foreign policy or, just to
pick another subject at random, the economy.
The bailout crashed, and so did democracy.

13.3 million women live with HIV and AIDS in Sub Saharan Africa. In Women, the Law, and HIV/AIDS in Africa: A
Connundrum for the Legislature?
(Vandeplas Press, $34.95), Florence
Shu-Acquaye, professor of Law at Nova Southeastern University’s
Shepard Broad Law Center, highlights the challenges these women face.
Antiretroviral drugs and improved technology have rendered HIV/AIDS a chronic
disease in developed countries, but not so in Sub Saharan Africa. This book
examines the epidemiology, manifestations and management of the problem in a
setting where prevention and access to drugs is compounded by various factors.
The law plays an important role and often the issue is not whether there is a
law in place, but whether it is enforced. This is critical for African
countries, where, without government commitment, implementation of HIV/AIDS
treatment programs would possibly be unachievable. Presented in collaboration with Florida
