UPI:
Five years after Vermont approved gay civil unions, a study indicates
legalized same-sex couples may be longer-lasting than those without legal
status. Kimberly F. Balsam
and Theodore P. Beauchaine of the University of Washington, Esther
D. Rothblum of San Diego State University and Sondra E.
Solomon of the University of Vermont followed-up on a 2002
project that focused on legalized relationships of same-sex couples
following civil unions in 2000.
Study: Gay Civil Unions May Last Longer
As you may have seen on the cover of Out magazine,
Little Britain is coming to America. Here's the trailer. The
shows premiers September 28th on HBO.
Queerty: We all know that
marriage remains one of the world's most divisive political issues.
Christian and conservative activists are always griping that the "blessed
union" should be between a man and a woman. Because, you know, God wanted it
that way so we could have babies and the such. Author Susan Squire's
new book, I Don't: A Contrarian History Of
Marriage, undercuts such right-wing arguments.
Labor Of Love
Details: "I think part of me
would love to play a drag queen," Radcliffe said. "It would be an
excuse to wear loads of eye makeup." 'Potter' Actor Wants to Play a Drag Queen
Steve Rothaus: According to a recent national
survey, seven out of ten heterosexual adults (71%) agree that how an
employee performs at their job should be the standard for judging an
employee, not whether or not they are transgender.
Transgender Employees Should be Judged by Job Performance
Page Six: POP star Katy Perry
will not be opening the VMAs this year, and she's not happy she'll have to
wait to perform. Our source overheard Perry at Marix Mexican restaurant in
LA the other night "complaining that she wasn't asked to open at the VMAs
because her song ['I Kissed a Girl'] is too provocative."

Washington Post:
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee who
revealed Monday that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant, earlier this year
used her line-item veto to slash funding for a state program benefiting teen
mothers in need of a place to live.

Gables. When the
death of his beloved mother shattered the home of six-year-old Don McNeal, it could have
destroyed his family. Instead, a stern but loving father united his ten children
into a cohesive team no one could separate. In Home Team Advantage: From the Fields of Rural
Alabama to the Pro Football Field of the Miami Dolphins (Power,
$14.95), McNeal conveys his father's simple but valuable rules of teamwork that
helped prepare him for very different careers in professional football and
church ministry. These are honest, no-nonsense guidelines anyone can use to
become an effective member of a family, team or any organization. Along the way,
McNeal shares humorous and touching stories ranging from the barnyard to the
football field and beyond. 6:30pm.
