John Barrowman - What about us?

New York Times:O.J. Simpson
was found guilty late Friday on all 12 counts stemming from a
confrontation in a hotel room last year, including armed robbery and
kidnapping.
The verdict, which
comes 13 years to the day after Mr. Simpson was acquitted in the
highly publicized murders of his ex-wife and her friend, concluded a
four-week trial that many have seen as a proxy for those unsatisfied
by that 1995 outcome.

The Bilerico Project: It seems
there is a new threat to our country- an insidious danger that is
seeping into our homes and everyday lives that must be stopped at
any cost. That threat is intellectualism.
We have heard the some of the buzzwords of this political season-
Folksy, Joe Six-pack, Elitist,
and Arugula Eating. It seems the new "culture
war" or wedge issue is intelligence. The Vice-Presidential debate
only solidified the lines in this war. On one side, you had Palin-
full of "folksy charm" and "you betcha" language. Then you had
Biden, who had a command of the issues, but was called "boring" and
(gasp!) "professorial" by the pundits.
The War on Intellectualism
Out Sports: Four years ago, I [Jamal
Brown] had no sense of what life could be like as an openly gay
athlete on the track team at Dartmouth College. I would have never
imagined that my teammates and coaches would embrace me; that I
would be selected to lead the 100+ member squad in team cheers and
rallies before every competition; or that I would come to love
myself. Thoughts of being out and proud were always followed by grim
images of physical or verbal harassment and frequent bouts of
depression, and I was constantly afraid of being driven away from
the sport to which I had dedicated many years of my life.

record for a single performance, formerly held by Tom Hanks,
who is currently receiving $49 million for Angels & Demons,
the follow-up to The DaVinci Code. That’s a lot of swag,
but there’s only one Johnny Depp, and with some
$2.7 billion in the bank from POTC films, Disney knows a real
treasure when they see one.

Us Magazine: Vice-presidential
candidate Sarah Palin has revealed she was "annoyed" with the
way Katie Couric handled their interview.
"The Sarah Palin in those interviews was a little bit annoyed,"
Palin told Fox News correspondent Carl Cameron. "It's

If you choose to answer a question, you are going to get clobbered
on the answer. If you choose to try to pivot and go to another

Defamer: It's the rumor that's
been burning up the internet for the last few days: in an upcoming
issue of Esquire,
actress Anne Hathaway will open up about her love of anal
sex. After describing it as one of the most sensual things she's
ever done and something that makes her feel "feminine in a very
special way," the actress supposedly says, "Every woman should try
it, otherwise they miss out on something amazing."
How the 'Anne Hathaway Loves Anal Sex' Rumor Fooled The Internet
Popwatch Blog: This week was a dismal one, especially on network TV,
where shows that hadn't been seen for nearly a year because of the writers'
strike limped back onto the air, only to find dwindling audiences. But one
network bucked the trend: CBS. The Eye network's procedural dramas Criminal Minds, NCIS, CSI:NY, and
Without a Trace have all seen big
ratings jumps this fall. So has returning comedy How I Met Your Mother. New crime drama

Between Love and
Goodbye –Filled
with unqualified romance, hilarious situations and plenty of down and dirty
drama this film is for anyone who has the guts to enter into a relationship. We
watch as a young, sexy couple falls in love then have to choose between family
and love. A lesbian friend who saves the day, a sister who drives a wedge and
immigration issues surround Kyle and Marcel as they live in the space between
love and goodbye.
Kinsey Sicks-You’ve
seen them live, but never like this- the smelly costumes, the

up under=2 0the pressure of performing every day? Will they get the hotel to pay
for their wireless Internet? More information at

Books & Books Coral GablesAfter a full day of creating beautiful
interiors for the rich and famous, Lew Smith would come home, take off his tie,
and get down to his real work as a psychic healer who miraculously cured
thousands of people. For his son, Philip, watching his father transform himself,
at a moment's notice, from gracious society decorator into a healer with
supernatural powers was a bit like living with Clark Kent and Superman. By turns
hilarious and profound, Walking
Through Walls (Simon & Schuster, $24) recounts Philip Smith's often bizarre
but always magical coming of age in a household that felt like a cross between
Lourdes and the set of Rosemary's Baby, and shows how he managed to map out his
own identity in the shadow of a father who, truly, loomed larger than life
itself. 7 PM
Books & Books Coral GablesWe Read Banned Books! Books & Books
celebrates Banned Books Week with short readings by staff and friends, including
Nicole Swift, Victor Santiago, Susie
Horgan, Michael Hettich, Mia Leonin, Andrea Askowitz, and few
surprise guests. Our readers have picked their favorite book from a list of the
fifty top banned books of history, reminding us that the freedom to read cannot
be negotiated! Banned Books Week was launched in 1982 in response to a sudden surge in the number of
challenges to books in schools, bookstores and libraries. More than a thousand
books have been challenged since 1982. The challenges have occurred in every
state and in hundreds of communities. People challenge books that they say are
too sexual or too violent. They object to profanity and slang, and protest
against offensive portrayals of racial or religious groups–or positive
portrayals of homosexuals. Their targets range from books that explore the
latest problems to classic and beloved works of American literature. According
to the American Library Association, more than 400 books were challenged in
2007. What’s your favorite banned book of all time? Bring it with you and join
us for a celebration of the values we hold dear. 8 PM
