There's a new drinking game that's to
be played only through the November presidential election. Keep a
bottle of your favorite booze near the TV and every time you hear
the word "maverick"
from Palin or McCain everyone gets a shot. Be prepared to
spend the night passed out wherever you are drinking and don't
drive! BTW... this is great fun during debates.
New York Times: Gov.
Sarah Palin made it through the vice-presidential debate on
Thursday without doing any obvious damage to the Republican
presidential ticket. By surviving her encounter with Senator
Joseph R. Biden Jr. and quelling some of the talk about her
basic qualifications for high office, she may even have done Senator
John McCain a bit of good, freeing him to focus on the other
troubles shadowing his campaign.

Beautiful Mag: Art, sculpture,
music, literature. While growing up
David Vance was surrounded by the atmosphere of his
Italian origin. Which taught him at early age already to see beauty
through the eyes of his ancestors and helped him to shape his vision
for his art creations. David’s art photography resonates with a
dynamic tranquility. His work is sensual and strong, haunting and
inspiring. And at the same time show a great control and knowledge

A handful of church leaders gathered Tuesday outside the
Miami-Dade County Courthouse in a show of solidarity for
Amendment 2, saying it is needed to save the institution of
marriage. ''We're here united to define marriage as
one man and one woman,'' said Mark Gonzales, a Texas
pastor and founder of Es Tiempo De Votar 2008, a nonpartisan
group aimed at boosting voter turnout among Hispanics nationwide.

CBS News: Forty-six
percent of the uncommitted voters surveyed say Democrat Joe Biden
won the [vice-presidential] debate, compared to 21 percent for
Republican Sarah Palin. Thirty-three percent said it was a tie.
Eighteen percent of previously uncommitted [voters] say they are now
committed to the Obama-Biden ticket. Ten percent say they are
now committed to McCain-Palin. Seventy-one percent are still
uncommitted.

I write for a web page, I have a hot girlfriend, and I even look

Why does she always look drunk? Maybe it’s that she’s “high on

Never in living memory has an election been more critical than
the one fast approaching—that’s the quadrennial cliché, as expected
as the balloons and the bombast. And yet when has it ever felt so
urgently true? When have so many Americans had so clear a
sense that a Presidency has—at the levels of competence,
vision, and integrity—undermined the country and its ideals?
The incumbent Administration has distinguished itself for the ages.
The Presidency of George W. Bush is the worst since
Reconstruction, so there is no mystery about why the
Republican Party—which has held dominion over the executive
branch of the federal government for the past eight years and the
legislative branch for most of that time—has little desire to defend
its record, domestic or foreign. The only speaker at the Convention
in St. Paul who uttered more than a sentence or two in support of
the President was his wife, Laura. Meanwhile, the nominee, John
McCain, played the part of a vaudeville illusionist, asking to
be regarded as an apostle of change after years of embracing the
essentials of the Bush agenda with ever-increasing ardor. Continue

Jennifer Aniston [was] spotted in Beverly Hills after
picking up a new Blackberry smartphone. The
39-year-old actress recently defended herself saying she has never
used romances in her life to further her own career, and that being
in love is more important to her than fame.
“It’s been incorrectly
alleged that I’d abuse a romantic attachment as a publicity stunt,”
the former Friends star said. “That’s below the belt.”
Jennifer Aniston: Blackberry Upgrade!
Us Magazine: "This is the first healthy relationship Lindsay has
ever had," a friend of the actress confesses to
OK!. Life couldn’t be sweeter for the twosome [Lohan, Ronson],
whose romance Lindsay finally confirmed during a Sept. 21 interview on the radio
show Loveline. When asked how long the women
have been dating, Lindsay – who had previously played coy on the topic – told
host Ted Stryker, “a very long time.” Cover Story: Lindsay & Sam's Love

Victoria Miranda, former employees of a Neiman Marcus

lawsuit against the company on October 1, 2008, alleging that
they were videotaped having sex. Chalem and Miranda allege that
their superior installed hidden cameras and secretly videotaped them
and other employees. The two were fired in October 2007 for
“engaging in sexual activity with each other in the loss prevention

Mollygood: An “expressionless” seven-year-old boy broke into a zoo,
bludgeoned to death giant lizards and fed them – and other live animals - to a
crocodile named Terry in Outback Australia this week.
The blank-faced boy, who had evaded security cameras because of his
slight size, then began his deadly rampage, smashing rocks on the heads of the
reptiles and throwing them and other live animals into the crocodile enclosure,
according to the zoo’s director Rex Neindorf.

The Bilerico Project: According
to Immigration Equality, more than 36,000 same-sex couples
include a partner who is a non-citizen. And, at long last, at least
a few members of Congress are stepping up to the plate to try
and make life a little easier for them. In September, 4 more
Senators and 18 Representatives signed on to co-sponsor the
Uniting American Families Act (UAFA), a legislative proposal to
finally level the playing field for lesbian and gay couples when it
comes to U.S. immigration policy.
"What's become normal now is really absurd."
Suburban Guerilla: [This is
written by Senator Bernie Sanders] If we are going to bail
out Wall Street, it should be those people who have caused
the problem, those people who have benefited from Bush’s tax breaks
for millionaires and billionaires, those people who have taken
advantage of deregulation, those people are the people who should
pick up the tab, and not ordinary working people. I introduced an
amendment which gave the Senate a very clear choice. We can pay for
this bailout of Wall Street by asking people all across this
country, small businesses on Main Street, homeowners on Maple
Street, elderly couples on Oak Street, college students on Campus
Avenue, working families on Sunrise Lane, we can ask them to pay for
this bailout. That is one way we can go. Or, we can ask the people
who have gained the most from the spasm of greed, the people whose
incomes have been soaring under president bush, to pick up the tab.
The senator explains his tax proposal to pay for this after the

Alternet: Early on in Thursday's debate,
moderator Gwen Ifill asked vice presidential candidates
Joe Biden and Sarah Palin a question about
bipartisanship: "Would you work to shrink this gap of polarization
which has sprung up in Washington?" In response, Joe Biden
painted McCain as a flip-flopper, and Sarah Palin attacked Obama. To
which Ifill replied, "Neither of you really answered that." Gotcha.
Or did she?

14th Floor Candace Bushnell’s Sex
and the City tapped into a zeitgeist about New York and its
denizens. With each of her three subsequent novels she has continued to explore
the lives of women as they navigated the city—from their halcyon days through
careers and family. Now she has broadened her canvas and conjured up men and
women who are all part of the dazzling panoply of this famed address. One
Fifth Avenue
(Voice/Hyperion, $25.95) is a mordantly observed novel of manners seen through
the lens—or room with a view—of New York’s
real estate anxiety. It’s a story of old and new money, that same combustible
mix that Edith Wharton chronicled in her novels about New York’s Gilded Age.
More than a century later, Bushnell’s New Yorkers have changed in the details,
but not the essentials: the thirst for power, social prominence, and successful
marriages that matter, at least in public. Here, in Miami, where the desire for
love, for success and its baubles, and for the right address, keeps pace with
the Big Apple – we’ll be hosting a luncheon to celebrate Candace and her new
novel. Books & Books, The Women’s
Chamber of Miami-Dade, The Florida Association for Women Lawyers and the 20/30
Group of the Coral Gables Chamber, have joined forces to bring
you this wonderful opportunity. Lunch
at the Banker’s Club with Candace Bushnell: The $60 ticket includes lecture,
lunch and a signed copy of the book. Seating is limited and assigned on a
first-come, first serve basis. Please RSVP to

the frocks with the famed and acclaimed author of Sex and the City and
Lipstick Jungle. Candace
Bushnell brings us her latest novel – One Fifth Avenue
(Voice/Hyperion, $25.95) – for an event tailor-made for Saks Fifth Avenue. With
her astute observations and laugh-out-loud humor, Bushnell captures life in
Manhattan, the women who live there and the fashion they wear. With that same
pitch-perfect tone you adore from Sex and
the City, Bushnell brings us One Fifth Avenue,
a one-of-a-kind address. It’s the sort of building you have to earn your way
into — and it defines the lives of the women within. From the hedge fund king’s
wife to the aging gossip columnist to the free-spirited actress, each person’s
game plan for a rich life comes together under the soaring roof of this landmark
building. Tickets are required for
this event. Pick up complimentary tickets at Saks Fifth Avenue

photographs taken in the Yucatán Peninsula, Mexico where for over twenty years
they have focused on the metamorphosis of the vernacular domestic architecture
of the region. The husband and wife team’s selection for this volume is
comprised of “Sections of Time,” a voluminous on-going project where the same
dwellings are photographed from the same spot over a number of years, bearing
witness to how the structures are affected by seasonal changes and the passage
of time. The fascination that del Valle and Gómez have with these houses has
come to epitomize their own transformation as first generation immigrants – and
like the houses they photograph, they, too, have had to adapt, change and evolve
in order to survive. 8 PM
