Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition

This exhibition at the Miami Museum of Science and Planetarium takes you on a chronological journey of RMS Titanic, from its design and construction, through its fateful maiden voyage and sinking, to the scientific recovery efforts that made this exhibition of Titanic artifacts possible.

The Exhibition puts you inside the experience, with full-size recreations of some of Titanic's luxurious interior spaces, including a first-class cabin. Titanic's tragic story comes alive in a large wall of ice you can actually touch. It also features a live interactive tour with over 250 artifacts and historic treasures. Click

American Blackout

Most people have heard of the voting irregularities that marred the presidential elections of 2000 and 2004. Some even know of the resulting challenges to the electoral votes by African-American congressional representatives. However, because the mainstream media shies away from reporting cases of imperiled democracy, the public was left to believe these stories are at worst insignificant rumors or at best one-off incidents that result from an overburdened election system. American Blackout chronicles the recurring patterns of disenfranchisement witnessed from 2000 to 2004, while following the story of Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, who not only took an active role in investigating these election debacles but, also found herself in the middle of one after publicly questioning the Bush Administration about the 9-11 terrorist attacks.

Metro Pictures: Part 2

You may be wondering if this show has to deal with the Metro Golden Mayer Production Company…no.  Metro Pictures “refers to snapshots of the city” and that the works “define, interpret and/or reject the city.”  This show is wide open to interpretation and includes stuff like a set of musical vests that “only when two participants wear them…do the sculptures emit sound.”  The exhibit is on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art until September 17th.  The Museum is located at 770 NE 125th Street in North Miami.  You can either call 305*893-6211 or visit them on the web at www.mocanomi.org for further information.
