The Fort
Lauderdale Gay Men’s Chorus will hold auditions for its upcoming 21st season on
Saturday, July 29. Auditions will be held in the music suite (second
floor, education annex) at the Sunshine Cathedral, 1480 SW 9th Ave.
Persons interested in auditioning should arrive no later than 1 p.m. and bring a
piece of sheet music to audition with — anything from a simple folk or pop song
to as complex as an Italian aria. An accompanist will be provided.
Pre-registration is not required. “The mission of the Fort Lauderdale Gay
Men’s Chorus is to build community through quality musical performances that
promote a
world
that accepts and values diversity,” said Todd Wiley, FTLGMC director.
“We welcome singers with virtually all ranges of musical skills and
experience, and throughout our season our repertoire is as diverse as are our
members. Everyone is welcome.” The chorus’ weekly rehearsals are on
Wednesdays from 7:30 to
10:30 p.m. at the Sunshine
Cathedral. Rehearsals for next season begin July 19. In addition to its many
community performances throughout the year, the Gay Men’s Chorus will present
its Fall Concert on Oct. 27, its Holiday Concert Dec. 16-17, the annual South
Florida Choral Festival on Feb. 24, 2007 and its Spring Concert at a June 2007
date yet to be finalized. For more information on the Fort Lauderdale Gay Men’s
Chorus, see its Web site at
www.ftlgmc.org.
This organization is funded in part by the Broward County Board of County
Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Division. |
