As promised last week, I will detail my escapades during the recent Internext Convention.  But first, I suppose I should let you know what Internext is.  Twice a year the adult web industry gathers for a three-day convention to network, share, learn and play (those are the basics).  In January the convention is held in Las Vegas (which is larger) and then again in Hollywood, Fl.  The straight side of the business predominantly attends the convention, but it seemed that about 20% of the attendees were in the gay porn market at the Summer Internext Conference held in Hollywood, FL at the Westin Diplomat.  The best part of this year’s convention was that the Diplomat was completely closed to the general public during the conference and the entire hotel was taken over by the adult industry. Security was very tight and if you did not have credentials, you were not allowed. Needless to say, this allowed for a very “open” environment for attendees and exhibitors and the buzz around the show was very positive that it was a closed event.  It also made it easier to socialize, as you knew that everyone in the hotel was part of the conference. 

My first day was spent on the Trade Show floor networking with exhibitors and other attendees.  Some more notable porn luminaries were present, including Ron Jeremy (www.ronjeremy-themovie.com), “Muscle Pete” (www.muscleadonis.com), Robin Byrd remember her from NYC Cable Access? GIO     Brandon, here we are sitting poolside at the amazing Westin Diplomat and enjoying Internext and the hot scenery around here.  So, I understand you are the #2 man at Rentboy.com, behind owner Tom Weiss.  Tell the readers and me about Rentboy.com and what the site is all about. 

BB       www.Rentboy.com is the world’s largest Escort listing site.  We have about 22,000 escorts across the Unites States; and we produce the HustlaBall (www.hustlaball.com) Events annually in Las Vegas and Berlin. 

GIO     Very cool, so tell me about HustlaBall and what that event is all about. 

BB       It is a cross between a Circus, Circuit Party and a Meeting for everyone in the sex industry.  So porn stars, escorts, pimps, streetwalkers, and everyone else in the industry attends. 

GIO     OK, so how long has Rentboy.com been around? 

BB       8 years and I head up the brand new office in Los Angeles.  So we have 3 offices, one in Madrid, NYC and LA.   

GIO     Are you a one-man-show in LA or do you have a team working for you? 

BB       In LA we share an office with Cybersocket magazine and currently I am the one-man-show out there.  Or some would say half a man (He laughs). 

GIO     Nah, you are a full man.  I know you have been in the adult industry for a number of years now; how did you get your start? 

BB       You want the real story or the story I tell everybody (giving me a sly smile and a laugh) 

GIO     Whichever you feel is the best story!

BB       I was actually leaning over a table in a restaurant in New Orleans and someone gave me a business card and said to me, “You will probably never use this, but         take it.”  About six months later I looked at the card again and it said something         about jacking off in front of a camera and it all snowballed from there. 

GIO     From that point until now, how many movies have you done? 

BB       17 flicks so far. 

GIO     Is there a particular highlight in your career that you would like to share? 

BB       Well anytime I get to do the next one is a highlight for me! (he laughs). 

GIO     If you had your choice of any man out there to have sex with, who would it be? 

BB       hmmmm…let me think about this.  Honestly I have a fetish for Robyn from Batman and Robyn.  Even though he is a fictional character, we could get into some serious trouble!  

GIO     That is so funny, I interviewed Matthew Rush a few weeks ago and he also has a super hero fetish.  He said he wants to do Super Hero porn; perhaps I need to hook you two up. Oh, and he wants to be Wonder Woman… 

BB       (looking dreamingly into the sky) yeah….yeah….hmmmm 

GIO     I will let you ponder that for a moment.  Is there an embarrassing or funny moment in your career that you care to share? 

BB       Yeah!  I was filming a movie right here in Fort Lauderdale (gets excited remembering) at the Sea Grapes Isle Resort.  I was positioned in a chase lounge thinking I was looking all-cute and getting ready to put my legs up over my head and I fell into a cactus!  It was awful; I had to pick thorns out of my body for about 4 hours.  So that is not only funny, but also painful! 

GIO     OUCH! You poor thing!  So, Boxers or Briefs? 

BB       Neither!  But, it is all about the label and aesthetics, like Abercrombie & Fitch, those can be sexy. 

GIO     Lights on or off during sex? 

BB       Ooo…Lights on for sure!  

GIO     Romance or rough? 

BB       Grrrr..ROUGH! 

GIO     (both laughing) Down boy, down!  What has been a highlight this year at Internext for Rentboy? 

BB       Well we are doing a lot here this year.  Events like this are really good for networking.  The seminars and stuff are great and of course the parties are fantastic.  Everyone here is excited about what they do and it is great for everyone to meet and share with each other.  For us it is great to promote Rentboy.com and HustlaBall and get everyone else excited about what we are doing. 

GIO     What advice would you give to anyone wanting to get into this industry? 

BB       I would say to hook up with reputable people.  There are a lot of shady people in this industry and you have to be careful.  I was lucky to meet good people at the beginning that helped me along and pointed me in a good direction.  Just keep a good head about you.

GIO     Well I am glad you take it as a compliment, but you are a real person and a super great guy as well. 

BB       Stop it!  I am going to get a big head…see it is swelling as we speak (holding his head). 

GIO     Well you are!  So what is the next big thing for Brandon Baker and where do you see yourself in the future? 

BB       Not in jail! (Laughing)  You know the industry has so much to offer.  I would like to help people that want to get into it and show them the right way.  I would like to show people the positive side of the business.  But, I could never be an agent because I do not have the patience.  I mean like Howard from FabScout, he is a saint and I could not do what he does in keeping up with all the models and bookings and stuff.  But, I would like to keep in touch with people like you, and good agents like Howard and utilize that network to help others. 

GIO     Now I am getting a big head! (Both laugh) That is a good plan for the future.  I appreciate you taking the time to share with the readers and now it is time for another Pina-Colada, it is hot out here!
