Buy the Glass
Screw
You!
Well, I just discovered a new trend within the wine
community that may shape parts of the world’s economy
and environment: Screw Caps on wine bottles.
Apparently, many premium wine companies are changing to
screw caps due to environmental problems, and the spongy
corks are nothing but condos for bacteria. Also, many
wines are ruined by TCA, a compound that robs flavor and
leaves damp, musty odors in your wine. This information
is brought to you by Jennifer Rosen,
an award-winning wine writer, educator, and author of
Waiter, There’s a Horse in My Wine and The
Cork Jester’s Guide to Wine.
For more information about Jennifer, go to

Nuvo
For Her
The latest creation by the NY Entrepreneur who brought
us Hpnotiq in 2003 has come up with the next
sensation—Nuvo For Her.
This, like Hpnotiq, is a vodka-based product of France
with fruit nectars such as: peach, strawberry, and
passion fruit but Nuvo is pink, fizzy, and come in
half-sized bottles that are phallic obelisks that would
make it at a Sak’s perfume counter. With sparkling
white wine, it comes out dry with a mature and
sophisticated taste. It is suggested to mix with Sprite
over crushed ice in a champagne flute, but once the
bottle’s been opened—you have to down the whole thing,
bubbles aren’t forever! For more information
about this go to
www.NuvoForHer.com.

If
you're in That Part of Town
Mummy—You ARE a Queen!
Picture this, a transgendered Pharaoh! Yes, it’s true,
one of the most powerful leaders of ancient Egyptian
society was really a woman! Queen Hatshepsut, recently
found and identified through dental scans, was a long
overlooked mummy of an obese woman who probably suffered
from diabetes and liver cancer. Hatshepsut ruled for 20
years in the 15th Century BC and dressed like
a man and wore a fake beard! She was a monumental
builder and wielded more power than Cleopatra and
Nefertiti combined! The problems arose around her death
and the mystery began when she was buried on the outside
of the sarcophagus and was thought to be an
insignificant Wet Nurse. Well, low and behold, they
looked deeper and found that there was a tooth missing
that matched the DNA of the body organs preserved, then
the DNA also matched her grandmothers, and when she was
wrapped, her left hand was placed on her chest—a symbol
of royalty. See, she was thought to have stolen the
throne from her young stepson who, postmortem, scratched
her name from all the stone records and virtually made
her disappear. The Discovery Channel is due to
have a special out later this month and actually gave
Egypt $5M to set up a DNA lab to test the mummies.
What’s funny is that her tomb was in The Valley of the
Kings—not the Valley of the Queens.
