Celtic Viking Furniture
As
many know, I love recycled furniture or making
furniture out of things that are not normal building
supplies and even did a report about furniture recycling
for
a college class and got an A+ on it. Well, I found
another company that could use some attention, The
Celtic Viking Furniture Company. Based out of Hong
Kong, The CVF is proud to bring us the ancient arts and
culture of the Celtic and Viking peoples through
lovingly reflected antique elm pieces that create a
range of environmentally friendly furniture. Did you
know that both the Celts and Vikings offered worship and
had ceremony sites that centered around a magical tree?
The Celts believed in The Tree of Life that
brought insight and understanding while the Vikings’ ash
trees
were
called Yggdrasil and thought to be the axis on
which the world evolved. The CVF use only reclaimed
timber and refuse to log rainforests and dedicate
themselves through the preservation of the environments
through art history and culture. Check back because
they are planning on launching their latest lines which
will feature Egyptian, Aztec, Korean, Greek, Mayan,
Japanese, Roman, Incan, Chinese, African, Anglo Saxon,
Australian Aboriginal, as well as Native American
pieces. To learn more about The Celtic Viking Furniture
Company, go to

Georgia
O'Keeffe: Circling Around Abstraction
through May
6, 2007
Organized by the Norton Museum of Art, Georgia
O'Keeffe: Circling Around Abstraction is the first
exhibition to highlight this renowned American painter's
individual approach to the issue of abstraction, a
stylistic strategy which in many ways preoccupied
artists throughout the 20th century.
The exhibition brings together fifty-one of O'Keeffe's
works to illuminate the various and evolving ways she
used circular forms and motifs as the means whereby she
organized, simplified, and even energized her
compositions.
Both the exhibition and its catalogue, with every work
illustrated in color, will enhance both popular
appreciation and scholarly understanding of the artist's
significant contribution to the development of American
modernism.

Time for Gay Days
Ok,
some of us really do care about what to wear for
Gay Days in Disney and some actually go all out trying
to find that perfect red shirt. There have been
some that have gone in packs, wearing red stenciled,
embroidered, and labeled red shirts with such things as
all the names of the Mean Girls (Yuri) and
I came across the newest gay sensation sweeping the
States...Little Britain’s own “I’m a Lady”
shirt, and, quite hysterically, on the back, has “I
Do Lady Things.” I know about 50 people off the
top of my head who it would be appropriate for…but
that’s just my household! You can purchase the shirts

Paris
Hilton
Autopsy and Obituary Writing Contest
Beginning
May 20th at Capla Kesting Fine Art in
Brooklyn, NY will be a disturbing piece by artist
Daniel Edwards entitled The
Paris Hilton Autopsy.
This work features a life-sized clay sculpture of her
naked corpse—but she still has a tiara on her head,
as well as Tinkerbell by her side (matching tiara as
well) with a BlackBerry in her hand. Described by
Gallery Director David Kesting as “the
disturbingly glamorized trend of
Hollywood’s
‘Girls Gone Wild’” it is meant to be an interactive
public-service announcement warning kids about drunk
driving. The sculpture will be displayed on a real
Coroner’s table with its abdominal cavity open, is
anatomically correct, and even has removable innards in
full view! You can also write an obituary for Paris and
selected entries will be added to the website beginning
May 13th. For more information, go to
