landscapes
and city streets and no one notices. Within the
collection Irina includes objects from her won girlhood
and personal collection, with such things as propaganda
and movie posters, newsreels, and actual photos of Lenin

Steven, who often played in mud puddles as a child

outright mud wrestling with a creative result as the
goal. There will be an Opening Reception for him at

Funney / Strange
Through January 28th, the Norton
Museum of Art is featuring William Wegman’s
collection of photographs that are, for a lack of a
better word, Funney/Strange (yes, I spelled funney, the
way they spelled funney). Within the collection are
more than 200 works, among them the signature 24 X 20
Polaroids, early black and white altered photographs,
paintings, drawings, collages, art books, videos, and
film.
They
also have Before The Camera: Remaking Reality and the
Make-Believe until January 7th. This is a
collection comprising works from local and national
collections that looks at the distinction between
“taking” and “making” photographs. Historically,
photographers “took” them while artists “make” an
artwork. Within the past couple of decades, creativity
has merged. See what they have found.
The
Norton Museum of Art is located at 1451 South Olive
Avenue in West Palm Beach. You can find them at

Rome and Juliet, December 1 - 3,
2006
Carol Morsani Hall
The
world's greatest love story,
Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet,
transfers brilliantly to grand opera

each familiar scene and character in
this famous tragedy of two young
lovers torn apart by their rivaling
families. Anton Coppola conducts the
Opera Tampa Chorus and Orchestra.
This opera will be sung in French
with English translations projected
above the stage.

Holiday Must-Have and For Those Who Travel |

I am constantly on the lookout for the unique and quirky
items that make us different. I have featured the
wooden briefcase from a
Tokyo
architect, revealed that hard-cased luggage is en
vogue, and to add to that, we now have personalized
luggage! At
www.hideostore.com, you can purchase the Hideo
Wakamatsu Easel Trolley Set. Created by a
Tokyo
designer, the bag comes with removable artwork on one
side that can be replaced with your favorite photo.
Imagine all the time and energy you will save at the
airport baggage claim when you can easily pull off your
luggage. My thoughts, and maybe I’m just a little bit
vain, but I would go to Michael Murphy at
www.michaelmurphy.com and get a sickening
headshot, and then blow it up and place it in the
picture frame it comes with,--thereby ensuring no
one will steal my luggage! |

Take a Voyage with Ethan Hawke
The Coast of Utopia is being performed and tells the tale of three decades of
Russian life and history. This is a three-play epic
that forebears the Russian Revolution and begins with
Voyage. Set in 1833 in the Russian countryside, it
features Ethan Hawke, Amy Irving, Brian. F. O’Byrne,
Martha Plimpton and a cast of over 44 actors playing 70
roles. During the mid-19th century, as
revolution swept across
Europe, a group of Russian intellectuals, journalist,
critics, philosophers, poets, and their friends tried to
topple the Tsar for the cause of freedom. This epic
follows these people over thirty years as their lives
intertwines, passions and dreams drive them in pursuit
of perfection.
Voyages is the fist tale, is set in the Russian countryside and
deals with four eligible sisters and a charismatic
brother. Shipwreck is the second part, and the
exiles find frustration and inspiration in
Paris
and London. Part 3 of the series, Salvage, deals
with resolution, as imperial Russia is set adrift when
the Tsar frees the serfs and their memories of their
homeland.
The Vivian Beaumont Theater is located at
150
West 65th Street at Lincoln Center and can be
