Held Over!
Sol
Theater's
Julie
Johnson
Is
true
change
possible?
No,
seriously,
can someone
who has been
molded into
one Class,
with traits
of one
sub-Class—through
hard work,
determination,
and passion,
truly
achieve a
different
level in
life? Is
that just a
Fairy Tail
story told
by the
disenfranchised?
The answer
is no.
People can
do amazing
things.
Take for
example the
mother who
lifts up a
car to get
her baby out
from
underneath,
or how about
the Savant
that can
play Mozart
without ever
taking a
lesson?
People are
amazing.
One fine
example of
that would
be
Julie
Johnson.

Beehive
Found at Stage Door Theatre Held Over through
September 17th!!!
It was brought to my attention that all
of the costumes for Beehive were done by the one
and only Maria from Zoo 14 on Wilton Drive. A local
fashion legend in our community, she has helped dress
many figures—both male and female into one-of-a-kind
creations. This play is a definite Fashion Must-See to
reminisce about and era that brought about social
change, creativity, and freedom.
Beehive, the 60’s musical
sensation, will be at The Stage Door Theatre May 26th
thru June 25th with big hair and bigger
hits.
The Stage Door Theatre is located
on 26th right across from Wilton Station in

Things on Display |
Metro
Pictures: Part 2 through September 17th
You
may be wondering if this show has to deal with the Metro
Golden Mayer Production Company…no. Metro Pictures
“refers to snapshots of the city” and that the works
“define, interpret and/or reject the city.” This show
is wide open to interpretation and includes stuff like a
set of musical vests that “only when two participants
wear them…do the sculptures emit sound.” The exhibit is
on display at the Museum of Contemporary Art until
September 17th. The Museum is located at 770
NE 125th Street in North Miami. You can
either call 305*893-6211 or visit them on the web at

Inspired Living
Are
you man enough to put on a leather bedskirt? How about
a set of sheets covered with dirty words? Are
you a BIG Tom of Finland fan? Well, I have the company
for you! The Mind Fetish Bedding Company is a
recent creation by the 29 year-old Quincy Russell of
Brooklyn who, after visiting the International Man of
Leather 2005 Contest in Chicago decided that he wanted
to incorporate his sexuality into his interior
design—tastefully. They have created 400 thread count
bed linen with dirty words, leather pillows with
handcuffs, lifestyle inspired duvet covers, scented
candles, and how about a Bondage
Bedskirt
that has nine 12-gauge reinforced D-Rings strategically
placed around the uppermost part of the ruffle and can
be easily tucked away when Mom comes around. Some of
the products come with a reversible option and even the
black leather pillows with built in handcuffs can be
turned inside out to a simple black fabric. To find out
more, and about some stuff I am not willing to write
about, go to

Peacoats En Vogue
Just
to let the majority of the people traveling out of the
state of Florida, and for those who live in someplace
other than The Sunshine State, the latest Fall & Winter
Must Have is a Peacoat. Originally designed and
currently still issued by the US Navy (P.S. one reason
why I joined) to graduating companies. However, the
spin is that it be more form-fitting and slimmer than
the original bulky, “over lots of clothes” wool overcoat
of the Navy. According to my sources, the Peacoat will
be the staple in every guy’s closet. Every major label
has jumped onboard (no pun intended) from Calvin Klein,
Salvatore Ferragamo, to Juicy Couture. |

Fashion File/Project Runway for the Inner
Jet Setter In You
Yes,
this past week was one of the most entertaining and
twisty shows of this season, second to the Recycling
Plant in NJ. The project was to design an outfit for a
jet setter, when later, in the workroom, it was
discovered that the outfits were for themselves. This
hit some of the designers hard—for some have
never designed an outfit for a man! Well, it’s
about time that they become diverse and sprout their
wings. With 15 minutes to sketch and then $75 for
materials, they were to create something in one
day that they would consider to be worn by a jet
setter. Then, during judging, it was disclosed that no
one would be eliminated just yet—they would have to pack
and get to the airport within an hour with
destination unknown.
At
JFK it was finally revealed that they would be traveling
First Class to Paris! Special Guest Tim Gun accompanied
the designers and monitored their clothes. When they
arrived, they were shocked to see Parsons Paris
and that there was only six design tables. In the
design room, they were introduced to famed designer
Catherine Malandrino who would be Guest Judging the
arrival of their garments, and in combination with
scores from NY, would be eliminating someone. As much
as I personally do not like Jeffrey, I loved his Rock
Star look and very much deserved his win. Even though
Laura’s was elegant and fared well in traveling, it was
still “Laura-esque.” Kudos to both Kayne and Vincent
for being daring and for never have made menswear
before, but still constructed garments that were
appropriate, and very fitting to their personal style.
On a farewell note, I am glad to see Angela go, the best
part of her outfit was the blowout hairdo! Au revoir
Mademoiselle Fleurchon The Not So Great.

The
Scream is Found
Last week, famed
Edvard Munch’s The Scream and Madonna,
masterpieces, have been found. Two years ago a masked gunman grabbed
the treasures in front of stunned visitors to the Munch Museum in Oslo.
Experts have confirmed that they are the real things and that the damage
done to them was far less than expected and feared. The Scream
is the best-known work in Munch’s emotionally charged style that was a
major influence in the birth of the Expressionist movement.

Guthrie Theater
This
week, I would like to bring to light an architectural
masterpiece that is art in itself. The new Guthrie
Theater in Minneapolis is an impressive piece of
American design that is now in area that is now a hotbed
of cutting-edge design. Designed by Jean Nouvel, this
285,000 square foot structure is decked out in blue
metal panels and highlighted with yellow glass windows.
The former theater surrounded the audience on three
sides and this does that and with some high-tech
additions and more. What is amazing to see is the
massive Endless Bridge that is a cantilevered extension
arm pointing toward the banks of the Mississippi.
