Is This Art? |

Jodie
Foster Found Hanging in Gateway Shopping Plaza
While amongst my travels this week,
I came across something soo strange, soo odd and
unusual, I had to ponder, was this art? If you
go to Stevie Moon Tattoos, sand at the door and then
turn around, you will find a painting of what I think
looks like a young Jodie Foster, placed high up on the
side of a building—about 10' off the ground. Whoever
put this up there, climbed a few feet, this was not an
accident or Forest Gump feather just floating around—it
was placed there. Now, the question is not whether it
was placed there intentionally, but why? Is this
painting up there art? You decide. For thoughts,
contact me at

Punk Shui,
If you want to be up on the newest
craze, here it is: Punk Shui. As many of you know,
Feng Shui is the ancient art of correct placement of
furnishing and décor to maximize harmony with nature for
correct flow of chi [energy].
Punk Shui is the complete
opposite of Feng Shui; it is a philosophy that
embraces discomfort. This isn’t for the fainthearted;
this is for the true artisans out there. Imagine
a sofa chain sawed in half, blood red paint on a stark
white wall. It is about providing a creative
environment that has to do with chaos and change. The
idea is to bring something new, whether good or bad.

Art School:
Confidential
What is art? Is death art or the
act of killing art? Not producing art is a crime. Are
you In the Box or Out of the Box? Should
a piece of art be judged on the artist’s personal life?
If you have heard people overanalyze works,
psychologically debate pieces, or been around
crap
that everyone loves for no reason…this might be the
movie for you! One out of a hundred students actually
become paid artists—come and see a success story. You
will laugh, cry, and scream, all in the name of art. To

Adios
Soraya
Latin Grammy winner Soraya
unfortunately passed this week due to Breast Cancer in
Miami. At 37, Soraya gave countless women hope for
recovery. “My physical history may come to an end, but
I am sure that the one that exists in your hears will be
present for all eternity. I’m confident that my
existence will leave a footprint in your lives and
benefit many women in the future.” Motivated by her
family history, she became a spokesperson for the Susan
G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation in 1999, a year
before her diagnosis. |

Andrew Wyeth in Phily
If you have not heard of Andrew Wyeth, maybe you’ve
heard of his infamous series called Helga. Apparently,
Helga was his neighbor and part-time model. The
collection, called Andrew Wyeth: Memory and Magic
is now on display at the Philadelphia Museum of Art
through July 16th. Wyeth, who is now 88
(whom my parents told me was dead when we saw the
collection as a child) and media-shy, is uncomfortable
viewing his own work in a museum. Wyeth said that he
never had an affair with Helga Testorf, and still paints
her occasionally. The collection includes more than 100
works and well worth the trip if you are in the
Philadelphia area. |
