The Fully Monty

Based on the 1997 movie, this play is the story of some ordinary guys from Buffalo, NY who are, for a lack of a better word, are ordinary, who end up becoming amateur strippers—winning the heart of a town.  Unlike the movie, this is a musical with numbers such as “Michael Jordan’s Balls” and “Big Ass Rock.”

7 - 9PM

Chill out after work with complimentary cocktails, culture and good company. Mix and mingle with the ArtCrowd, the Bass Museum’s Young Professionals Group, and take an exciting look inside the studio of Miami-based artist Sheila Elias.

Elias will discuss the artistic process behind her new cutting edge works that are a combination of photographic and digitally applied imagery. Her work explores contemporary culture and art history, and finding connections between art, aesthetics and social consciousness.

Appetizers are courtesy of North One 10 Restaurant, founded by Dewey LoSasso, a member of the “Mango Gang,” who created what he calls “comfort food with an edge,” a menu both familiar and evocative, infused with tropical ingredients from Florida’s rich cornucopia and the subtle nuances of international haute cuisine. Complimentary cocktails are provided by Finlandia and Amarula, courtesy of AMC Liaisons, Inc.

OPERA AT STONEWALL

Sunday, April 30 at 1 pm

Think about it, Carmen had its first performance in 1875 and is now arguably the most performed opera in the world.  It is one of the few operas to win universal approval. The man in the street whistles and loves its melodies; the operagoer is thrilled by its swiftly moving scenes and tensely emotionally music; the opera star is enthusiastic over its possibilities for singing and acting; and the musician admires its well-conceived musicality. It is, in fact, "the perfect storm."

This event is free and open to the public.
