A few facts to get you interested

A Jupiter Research report in Early 2006 revealed that, on average, Internet users now spend roughly 14 hours a week surfing the Web, the same amount of time they spend watching TV.

According to the most recent data (year ending 2005) from the Center for the Digital Future (a part of USC's Annenberg School for Communication), American consumers are increasingly relying on the internet for their information needs:

  • 78.6 percent of Americans use the internet
  • Nearly two thirds of Americans are connected at home (more have it at work)
  • More than 50 percent of Americans have been online for more than five years
  • 48 percent of Americans have high-speed access at home (more have it at work)

That last bullet is a conservative estimate: it measures broadband penetration among all Americans. If you measure broadband penetration among internet-connected Americans, the percent goes way up... to as much as 95 percent.

About Advertising on Mark's South Florida List

We know that advertising on a website is not as easy to understand as buying the inside cover of a magazine. You know where the magazine is and how to find it at any given moment. It's probably delivered to your business and you see your customers picking it up.

But what are your customers doing in between reading publications? Where do they go for information? And how do you reinforce your print message?

From Jet Blue and Volkswagen to Jared's Flower Shoppe and Target, Internet advertising is in the mix of virtually every successful major business. Mark's South Florida List (MSFL) is clearly positioned to give local Gay and Gay friendly business' a competitive edge with South Floridians and travelers alike. We are the number one ranked Gay and Lesbian website serving South Florida. We are in fact one of the nations leading Gay websites... period!

As you can see in the chart below (updated daily by Alexa), Mark's South Florida List is the highest and only consistently ranked website serving South Florida's Gay Community.

Our three month average rank has placed us consistently among the world's top 100,000 websites since October of 2005.

Beyond the high volume of traffic we receive, there are many reasons that adverting on Mark's South Florida List (MSFL) is a great value. Among them, MSFL reaches potential customers in homes and offices all over South Florida before they decide to go out and start spending money. Our business model does not require the excessive overhead (printing costs, office space) that drives high prices.

How does MSFL know where to put my ads? How will I find my ads?

We place the ads on pages that target your potential customers. We use our log files to analyze click streams and page views. By knowing where people were before they visited your MSFL landing page, we can determine where we should place ads.

In order to make it easy for you to find your ads, we created the Total Access Portal (TAP). As soon as your advertising is placed, your sales rep will email you a link to you business' TAP. Simply click on the link and your entire campaign becomes accessible. There are links to every page containing your ads and other useful information on your TAP. You can even use the TAP to conveniently pay your monthly or quarterly bill by Visa, MasterCard, American Express or PayPal.

What do the ads look like?

Most businesses prefer to have their own graphic designers create the ads. The information below describes the various ads and sizes we use and provides a few examples.

Arachnids®
The ads you see on the left are Arachnids, or Banner Ads.

Once our visitors have found their way into the various lists contained under each Gateway, they surf unique Webpages devoted to every business that has asked to be included on the list. At the top of these pages we place three ads that are compatible or related in some way to the business on the page. Our list is a giant web of information and like a black widow spider our Arachnids® drag visitors onto your MSFL Landing Page.

Your graphic designer will probably prefer to work in “pixels” a term used to describe the size of an Internet ad. The maximum allowable size for a gateway ad is 100 pixels high by 150 pixels wide, roughly the size of the ads you see to the left.

Gateway Ads
To make navigating the over three thousand pages of information on the Mark’s South Florida List (MSFL) Website easier, we have developed a structure that flows from several key pages that we call Regional and Local Gateways.

We place ads on these Gateway pages that direct surfers to your MSFL Landing Page. Gateway ads shortcut the entire navigational structure of the website and send visitors directly to your businesses' home on MSFL.

The maximum allowable size for a gateway ad is 150 pixels high by 200 pixels wide.

  Featured Columnists
Advertising is available on our featured columnists, Misty Eyez and Mizz Cori at the Movies, Reality Arson, Out With Scott and Below the Belt with Gio. Most of this advertising is sold as a sponsorship at prices ranging form $50 per month to $1495 per month.

  Pop-Ups, Motion and Custom Advertising

You may have noticed a variety of oddly sized ads on the website. You may want to combine several spaces on a page and create a tower ad. Your Sales Associate will work with you on pricing for custom sized ads that meet your needs.

We accept ads with motion on a first come, first served basis and there is currently no additional charge for posting an ad with motion. We do however limit the number of ads with motion on a page. Too much motion distracts, annoys and serves to drive people away from the business.

We do not sell Pop-Up advertising on the website. We find it totally annoying and will not subject our visitors to it for any price.
